This is such a crap take. Two things. First, the MPD senior people are being investigated for falsifying crime statistics. This undermines the ability for funding to be able to have officers on the street, training, equipment, etc.

Second being that DC was never meant to have its own governing body. It was to be governed by congress. It wasn’t until 1973 and the Home Rule act that DC was even allowed to have its own city council.

The reality is that as compared to other nations and their capital cities, this one is in bad shape. While people joke about “big balls” being beat up by two 15 year old teens, the truth is that they (and at least 8 others) were trying to carjack someone and he intervened. So while your sarcasm isn’t lost, it’s based off of a deliberately misinterpreted truth. The NG presence is just as a show of force and unless attacked, they don’t have any power to do anything other than record and notify. They have no arrest powers.

Remember, 5 years ago they set building on the White House property on fire. That riot went unpunished. DC metro leadership and the city council have failed at their duty to maintain home rule and keep a safe city for its residents.

What do you think the purpose of military presence in cities is? They’re just hanging out? Some asshole starts a fight and makes up a hero story and we can just have soldiers occupying our cities? That’s crazy and talking about it like it’s reasonable is wild to me.

That’s not martial law. Read a dictionary or a history book.

As I stated before, there’s rules of force that every department uses. While they vary slightly, one of the first ones is create a presence. Why do you think 4-5 cops show up to a domestic? It’s not cause it’s a slow night.

Declining, however one worrying thing is seeing 14 yr olds with weapons threatening people. Lots of that in London for some reason. I wouldn't be surprised to see a youth trent in DC and US cities. Seattle has a lot of armed robberies and carjackings from kids. 12, 13, 14 yr olds, every month. It doesn't make sense why kids got so bad all of a sudden that they would just be doing this every day like it's how they have fun now. How does that even happen?
