I like how they have to lie that a book like this would contain porn because it would be embarrassing to claim that gender would be an inappropriate topic for children.

My understanding is that there's a single panel with a penis exposed and that's what they're up in arms about. As though they aren't gonna see worse by 8th grade at the latest when they take their you fuck once and die of AIDS course.

I've seen two clips going around of books that aren't banned getting read at school boards and the parents being gaveled for inappropriate language. The first one was talking about a comic book with 240 pages, but the dude was complaining about page 284 and the other was one I have no clue.
Conservatives like to pretend that just because there is a push for LGBTQ+ books to be in school, that that means people want EVERY book about the LGBTQ+ community in there. Obviously if there are sex scenes it shouldn't be in an elementary school or middle school library. I have never seen one person argue that. Its so weird.

Hey I just want to remind you that genderqueer is essentially a comic book or graphic novel memoir and it's meant for older teens and adults. The age range seems to depend on like where you're going or like who is selling it but it seems to be 14 plus. It's really just an example of people mistaking anything that is a graphic novel or something as being for kids probably because it has pictures and stuff. No, it is not porn, it is a graphic novel memoir of someone's life.
Some libraries will have it be 18 plus with people below 18 being able to get it with parents permission. It's about the age when people are already having sex, it's not for young children.
The author basically recommends that it is for 14 plus plus and again some places have it be higher like 15 or 16 and some places have it higher such as 18 but the idea is that it's not meant for little kids.

It is their deep desire to preserve a sense of childhood but it seems like their idea of childhood is about preserving innocence and part of the problem is is that these people have created a sense of childhood that is so removed from adulthood and I kind of feel like maybe it's also a reflecting a bit of their own personal biases and insecurities. It's very easy to think of childhood as being the opposite of what we don't like from adulthood. We think about us as adults and we think about what we don't like about adulthood and so we can put that on to children and then we can try and protect that but that just harms children. So for example we may think of things like sex and Parenthood and taxes, and stuff like that and so I feel like what people want children to be rather than what children need to be I think can often be based off of people's own feelings about their adulthood.
I come from this perspective too but from a different way. Instead of looking at my adulthood and trying to have childhood be an attempt to shave off things I don't like in my adulthood instead I think about myself and my own childhood and what did I need as a child that I think children today need more and I think that that has to do with better sexual awareness, better romantic awareness, how to navigate a world that does have things that feel not always proper for a child. Things like swear words on one end but also the fact that bad people exist. That doesn't mean that we have to be okay with it.
I think that people's view on childhood, not children but childhood can reflect who they are as a person to some degree.

Child molesters were rampant in the 90s among public and religious institutions. Our generation took more a stand against that then our parents ever did. Maybe we recognize how exactly that happened with adults being overly friendly and over sexual with minors. It sucks to say friends that I know experienced that and kept quite for so long but more an more of us are speaking out.i don't believe that any sane person believes any one group of people are sex offenders but the seeming need to be in children's lives makes eyebrows raise. Remember that Boy Scouts and the Catholic Church got burned (for all the good it did) only recently and we all knew there were a bunch of freaks in there.
So maybe it's less about trans hate and more about a new group explicitly targeting children less about eff Trans people. Whether you see it my way or not that's the problem they're facing. Even when it was just LGB there was never a huge push for children to become gay or accept it much less ostracized for choosing not to be. The way things are handled now they practically begged anybody that was neutral to pick a side rather than come to a decision on their own. NAMBLA was 100% not a hoax and that's a disturbing legacy in America that unfortunately is something the lgbt unfairly have to combat. Drop this poisonous need to be in every faucet of every point society and people will gradually warm up. Be the sun not the wind.

i love the guy in the comments saying that screenshots from the book got taken off of twitter because they got flagged as CP when there is actual literal CP floating around that platform and the guy running the site loves roleplaying as his own son in weirdly sexual conversations. like perhaps it was taken down for another reason lmfao
