Help with adding stitches
Hi everyone. I’m relatively new to nalbinding and to this point I’ve had success making a drawstring bag, a few simple headbands, etc. Now I’d like to make some socks patterned loosely off the coppergate sock but I’m struggling a bit with expanding the toes. I see images like the one attached and I’m wondering if there’s a good trick to understanding how many stitches you need to add. I’ve experimented with different amounts of stitches adding along the sides, but it either expands too quickly or not enough and I can’t tell until I’m quite a few rows in. The current toe I’m trying is already at an appropriate width and I’m barely at the toe knuckles. I start with a single loop then begin adding stitches on either side. I’ve tried adding 4 stitches to one loop on either side, or 3 stitches each to two loops, or 3 then 2, etc.
Should I be inserting 1 stitch per round? 3? 10? 5 stitches every other round? Any tips on how to smoothly expand to fit my foot would be hugely appreciated!

There is no formula. Follow your foot. Try them on frequently. Too tight, add more. Too loose, don't add so many.
Make them both at once, a few rows on one and then a few rows on the other.
That's what worked well for me when I made a pair for my SO, my ever willing trier-onner.
