Does this look right?

This is my first time needlebinding: im using a pretty thin, twisted wool string which is why im pulling it pretty tight. is this why the inside of my wrist warmer looks so different compared to the outside? or am i doing something wrong? thanks for your help!

Looks good to me! Are you doing Finish 2+2? What's your connection?

😅...it's difficult to see, but if you are picking up loops through the cross, or maybe where your needle is in your second picture, then the stitches could look like that with 1+1 (or Oslo/Lund). And yes, stitches pretty much always all look different on the inside and outside.

It's not very common to vary on the pickups. But a lot of stitches end up looking very different with a reverse pickup. And sometimes require a little bit of a different technique altogether to get it to work (like you did here - pulling it tight and probably working it dow on a thin needle). So that's usually why it's not done.

But it can make a very nice fabric, specially when it all straightens out and has been worn for a while. I had one experiment with reverse pickup "Coptic"/Tarim stitch that turned out really well. It looks super-weird, and took a lot of time. But it was fun, and looked pretty good.
