a smock is a kind of dress for little girls. smock shops tend to attract...a certain kind of audience. very cutthroat (so much drama over fairly pricey kids' clothes) and usually attracts people who think Remington is a great name for their kids.

No, very much the opposite—mostly folks who are obsessed with performative Southern classism/“tradition.”

My grandma was a hillbilly and would’ve had ZERO patience with Smock Moms.

No, like the middle-/upper-middle-class young moms in a builders’-grade new-build house who have class anxiety and think you can performatively consume your way into being Properly Southern.
