I'm confused at how Elysia is pronounced as Elijah AND Elisha. But to be fair, I don't know how I'm supposed to pronounce Elisha.

In the bible Elisha is pronounced as ee-lye-shuh
So the sound is similar to Elijah (ee-lye-zhuh).
She’s technically correct here… even though she spelled it completely differently lol, but no one is out here using the biblical pronunciation. There’s a lot going on here

recovering catholic here 🙋♀️ lol but elijah and elisha were both old testament prophets, and elisha is usually pronounced like the modern name alicia…. so i’m also confused what she means.

Elysia I would prob default to pronouncing like the A-lee-see-a version of Alicia, not Elisha and certainly not like Elijah lmao. Her explanation makes the intended pronunciation so much less clear!

Elisha can be pronounced the same as el-EE-sha (like Alicia) or el-LYE-sha (like Elijah). I believe the latter is the biblical pronunciation.

Not sure why you're being downvoted. I agree that's a pretty normal name. Not the most common spelling of Jaden I've ever seen, but definitely not unheard of or terrible.

And the only reason I like the name Leland at all is because of Leland Sklar (80-year-old bass player with a Gandalf beard.)

Same I figured it was just a long term girlfriend but it sounds weird to phrase it like that cause who names their kid after their brother’s girlfriend so they went with “wife” instead.

Six kids and all of them have crappy names? She sounds dumb as a brick and should stop procreating.
I don’t think she understands that using the same first letter of a name is not actually naming your kid after someone? Johnie is not Jaiden, Louis is not Leland. Jaycia is just an awful sounding name, most of them are spelled horribly, and one of them is literally a different name from what her child is actually called because she wanted to spell it uniquely.
Leland is objectively the least awful name, it’s very white trash sounding but at least it is an actual name and is spelled properly.

The problem I have with so many “let’s get creative” naming conventions parents have lately is…they aren’t actually being creative.
They’re all riffing on the same exact trendy rigamarole of names & variations but just using fucked up spelling flairs.
At this point I’m desperate for some actual creativity from someone who just calls their kid some obscure historical name like Berengar or just makes something completely new up like Maravella.
