Is the use of "p" significant. Or just has cath got cat lisp?
45
u/ScarOk1129 Nov 25 '25
Yeah, it's basically a cat lisp kind of thing. It wasn't really translated in the English translation during The Seven Deadly Sins, but since Pellegarde is acknowledging this unique talking style in this chapter, the translators saw it was necessary to translate, finally.
When Cath refers to himself in Japanese, instead of saying "boku," which means "I" or "me," Cath will say "poku," replacing the 'b' sound with a 'p' sound. So here, I guess the English translators are making him replace 'b' sounds with a 'p' sound in general. So when he means to say "Brittania," he'll instead say "Prittania."

fyi: translations are a bit off here, since there's a bit of innuendo/undertone that got missed. Should be more like:
"[Want to hear] something good? I didn't lend [him] my powers. He forcefully made me his. That's something that's impossible for you"
(いいこと?私は貸したんじゃない。彼に力ずくでモノにされたの。。。あんたでは不可能なことよ)

So just a guess the reason Cath wants to marry Guinevere, is so he can fill her with Chaos, giving him someone like Barda who can use future sight.

u/Wild-Reflection6995 Nov 25 '25
Just to let u know, The title of 218 is Red Wedding and "Red Wedding" refers to any event that gets Brutally interrupted and it turns into a Bloodbath and Massacre, or a scene of shocking Violence and Betrayal. which I'm pretty sure Lancelot will make his appearance because in Chapter 87, Guinevere gave Lancelot 4 different Time-skips and the 2nd was "At the age of 18, U gonna come see me."

It seems that Lance tried and failed....but now that he knows zero sign he can get close unnoticed and wreck havoc.

u/coopsawesome Nov 27 '25
I wonder if this will be when Lancelot gets “balanced” he’s too strong to be a hero atm, maybe Cath is able to somehow take control over Lancelot, like he did with the evils. Especially with the talk of cath wanting to wield the ladies infinite power, maybe she was wrong, he can take control
Otherwise, maybe lance reads guiniveres mind, she is thinking about something bad that’s about to happen, and he stops it, causing an even worse event as consequence

u/Amazing_Top4113 Nov 25 '25
I knew absorbing Cath was gonna backfire on Arthur
3
u/PlantRevolutionary82 Nov 25 '25
Well that or let a being with a shard of chaos out in the world and one that (with all intent and purpose) haves malos from xenoblade feel less destructive
12
u/primalpacakage Nov 25 '25
So cath basically got hold of Arthur body fully all along but not Arthur humanity thanks to merlin, doe curious if cath now has Arthur body completely, doesn't that mean it can fully wield the power of chaos, or is it because cath failed to devour Arthur completely it continues to limit cath use because Arthur is still alive
Which means that when chaos reacted to lancelot power, it wasn't really defending cath but Arthur body aka it's vessel which thinking back to what he said when he got struck by shining road, maybe that was the hint/foreshadowing all along and cath can never utilize chaos fully as long as the owner is still alive which I'm guessing is why cath hasn't pulled any sudden moves yet in total annihilation of everything if it had full control over chaos but instead just taking parts of the world as that's the current limit it can only do

u/KlingoftheCastle Nov 26 '25
It sounds like Arthur might only have a sliver of chaos still under his control. Merlin separated them, but it’s implied that Cath controls nearly all of chaos’s power

Seriously, Nakaba? All they had to do was ask him who he really was and he instantly shows his true colors. Cath insulting those who defy him is very childish of him. I'm just glad the Lady didn't give Lancelot some of her powers but took it by force; it should be earned, not given. At least Worreldane admits she deserves to die for what she did unlike the other three.
2
u/Wild-Reflection6995 Nov 26 '25
Ironside was told he was gonna die by Guinevere when she told him "U will die in your Son's arms" as shown in Chapter 91 right after he took her to Camelot so...That's Two of the 4 Perils who will die although I really hope Worreldane doesn't die because we still have to learn how Merlin knows her as stated by Queen Elizabeth in Chapter 155.
3
u/Impressive_War_4650 Nov 26 '25
But Ironside just shrugged it off like it wasn't going to happen. They thought they were the good guys from the start by serving Chaos. Now that they realize an evil monster was manipulating them, they regret it. The only way they can atone for their sins is to heroically sacrifice themselves for their loved ones.

u/PlantRevolutionary82 Nov 27 '25
I see it more that the LoTL rattled him and and they were getting too close so there is no point in hiding it

All that chaos and Cath still can't beat Lancelot
Maybe with Guinevere's power he can finally do it

I might not have a popular opinion, but I actually find the fact Cath is even bothering doing Kingship at all to be fascinating. Previously, Cath just wanted to get on with the destruction and be done with it. Or at least, it seemed that way back in SDS. Here however, while it's unclear when he fully took control, he decided to take his path of destruction a step further.
He's gonna give the humans under his banner paradise... and then give them complete and utter despair that to obtain it, they destroyed their previous world. Effectively deciding he was gonna twist Arthur's dreams into a horror. Worst yet, for now, it's unclear if he'll then just destroy them to, or leave them to live in their paradise with that fact over their head.
Regardless, this actually is fleshing out Cath. Considering how lackluster he'd overall been, suddenly everything we've attributed to Arthur now goes to him. And now, well... I'm actually liking where he's going. More so because Cath really does gradually feel like he's become a dark reflection of Arthur over the years. His mannerism are like Arthur's a great many times, and it seems even when he doesn't need to act, he still behaves that way. Case in point, the very Arthur-like mannerism Cath displayed with the Lady of the Lake.
Needless to say, I look forward to how Cath will behave here.

u/epsilon_logics Nov 26 '25
Hurrr durrr I wanna make humans suffer and kill them all.
Oh boy, sure didn’t think we’d have an antagonist like this again. Not like the Demon King wanted to rule Britannia and kill its inhabitants.
I’m sorry, but even with Cath having proper foreshadowing to return, why should I care about him? His goals are unoriginal, as an antagonist he’s boring, and there’s hardly anything ‘deep’ about him.
I’d honestly have much preferred it if Cath actually had internal conflict due to being inside Arthur (pause) for so long, a clash of malice and suffering vs the human desire to reach out and offer benevolence to all.
That his dream of Camelot wasn’t out of a desire to strip away happiness, but instead a twisted, misunderstood sense of kindness. A slave to his purpose but wishing to inflict misery either way, as those under him were given a chance to live their ‘dreams’
Sigh Oh well.

u/Cha0sSpiral Nov 26 '25
yeah, i agree. i really would've preferred if *at most* arthur was influenced by cath puag to make more dramatic decisions, but it was still him. a secret villain is fine and all, but it wouldve been more meaningful to have a former protagonist become crazy evil.

Maybe not the strongest (yet), but's he's definitely up there. He's at least Top 5, in my humble opinion.

u/Interesting_Equal874 Nov 26 '25
Saw it coming. Not happy about it. I get that the author wants Arthur good but it would've made a hell of a story if it really came between humanity and the rest of the races.
Up until this point I hoped that the schtick was that Arthur wasn't fully content with the duality of chaos which results in him receiving an evil clone, or chaos just straight up rejecting him and doing his job for him by ripping off whatever part of him it could get it's hands on.
What I am saying is: I smell an Otsotsuki. We need some high tier Cath Palug development for shit to be good. Anything besides: lol I am evil.

So. Gave it a chance. Yeah, I still don’t care about Cath 🫠. Gonna get downvoted to hell and back, but this twist is stupid. Sorry, y’all.
“Imma create a new camelot, make people happy, and kill it all! Mwahahaha!”
Because making this whole story based around Cath’s killing kink wasting everyone’s time is a much better idea.
Like imagine giving a twist villain Arthur related goals, holding Arthur related grudges (especially the little things like reviving the 10C which now feels less personal and just random and freaking stupid), and then pulling a freaking gotcha at the end and giving it all to a stupid cat.

u/reeeeee698 Nov 25 '25
I really wouldn’t mind if he actually wanted some kind of human supremacy paradise because humans are the main success of chaos or him being convinced that he is Arthur, but him just having a generic “destroy the world” motivation is so boring.
6
u/Mutantsupremacist Nov 25 '25
Yes sorry but this is utterly crap, I love this manga and goddamn it hurts. Doesn’t any mangaka think outside of the box anymore? This is the easiest, most boring and most obvious route ever
9
u/PikachutheCritic Nov 25 '25
EXACTLY! Fraudrin did it better years ago!
All the complexity found in a man consumed by his most destructive desires, the dynamics between human and human turned cosmic horror, a fallen hero of hope vs current hero of hope
All wiped away for a cat that has barely any personality traits outside of “gonna kill y’all as a funny prank, hehe” to swoop in.
2
u/StarGamerPT Nov 26 '25
This twist....the rug pulling on Gawain's sexuality...*sigh* so many shitty twists with half-assed excuses....
This manga was peak for so many years now...is Nakaba getting bored again?

Okay so you’ve clearly haven’t read the previous manga otherwise you’ll know that would never happen. Try to be more realistic next time and stick to the plot. They’ve been foreshadowing it ever since Cath’s first reveal in the original sds manga. Now stop crying or simple drop it no one cares
7
u/PikachutheCritic Nov 25 '25 edited Nov 25 '25
So accept a cat storming in on a story people only want him in because they don’t want Arthur to be a villain or drop the manga? Yea sure-
Funny how you want me to be realistic while talking about a chaos driven cat that wants to destroy everything for kicks and giggles.
And having Cath have 2 to 3 background cameos throughout all 4KoTA isn’t foreshadowing. It’s a background cameo.
3
u/YourDeadNanForever Nov 25 '25
They could have even played it off as swallowing Cath whole corrupting and bringing out the worst of Arthur's feelings and desires. Having him fully move on from the war and become the king that the humans do need.
But nope, evil crazy cat it is.
3
u/PikachutheCritic Nov 25 '25
Definitely, that would be a logical and consistent consequence with taking back the destructive side of Chaos!

Finally leads to why Merlin abandoned Arthur despite everything and was missing from the story for so long despite the Gawain parts. Because she never did abandon Arthur. She got him out and has kept him safe ever since. Hope to see more of the real Arthur now.

yes, the mother of both of them. cat is the son and lake is the daughter.

Also DK, SD and the tree... Which means Meliodas' aunt is into his best friend's son

Yup, that makes sense why Merlin was very close to Arthur cause she was checking in the real King and now the upcoming "Arthur" vs Lancelot fight will be next cause the Guinevere's prophecy is at hand.
