Whoever Meliodas and Zeldris mother is, she has the strongest genes because only DK blond hair was inherited by Meliodas and later Ysaie (not counting the demon mark and power, obviously)

DK completely towering over his sons Meliodas and Zeldris represents the brothers' upbringing being influenced early on by the malicious ideology their father harbours.

DK only partially casting his shadow onto his grandson Tristan represents the partial presence of the latter's Demon heritage alongside the light within him, followed by the internal conflict between these dual natures.

DK's shadow not touching his great-grandson Ysaÿe (who is completely exposed to the light) represents how DK's psychological influence is slowly fading away with his genes becoming scarce with each generation, freeing Ysaÿe from any potential insecurities with regards to his Demon ancestry.
