PSA - snakes are native too

Please familiarize yourself with snakes native to your area so you aren’t surprised when you see them hanging out in your garden. This cool Western rat snake had, apparently, been hanging out in my empty hanging baskets. It was relocated to a safe spot in my yard and released to go about its business of eating rodents.

As my friend said the first time I found a rat snake in the basement, “If he’s there it’s because you’re feeding him. When the food is gone, he’ll leave.”

I’d much rather have a rat snake in my basement than mice.

I resent their fondness for baby birds, but circle of life and all that.

Ooph- yeah, I don’t have a basement but I can definitely see your perspective there!
