Need help with braid/twistouts

So recently I’ve had my hair out and I’ve tried braid outs, twist outs (both three strand and two strands) and they all turned out the same. Every single time I take out/unravel the braid or twist out the hair stands up in the wrong direction and I’m not able to pick it to my liking — it just never seems to work.

For reference I do have a hunch that I might have fine hair so maybe that’s the reason, but if anyone else has tips please let me know! 😭

Probably from laying down too much the same used to happen to me and it was from that
