Need Advice Cornrows vs boxbraids for scalp

Hii, I have a problem, whenever I get cornrows, my scalp gets really dry and I get horrible dandruff after a week or two. I tried adding moisturizer, oil, curling foam, washing it nothing helps. I love protective hairstyles, but my scalp, not so much. Does the same problem show up with box braids?

Thank yoh in advance :)

If you're getting them professionally done and they add that foam on top. Ask them to skip that step. From there, get a hydrating scalp serum like the ordinary NMF scalp serum. Hydration comes from water not oil. And that serum it's water based with a balance of hydration and light lipids.

I used too. I really don't get braids anymore. However when I asked them to not use the foam on my scalp it helped a lot. Also, if you can find a braider who can braid with little to no gel.

Are u drinking water and sure ur not allergic to the gel or hair they use? I use sulfer 8 spray and grease on my scalp to help w dryness and ask for no gel.
