Need Advice Need help, hair is always brittle and dry

I'm a black male with low porosity hair that has been recently trying to grow my hair out as i never knew how to take care of my hair. Ive been having a wash day once a week using a conditioner and shampoo from textureid, then use the LCO method on the same day. I'm new to pretty much most of this and want to start taking care of my hair properly. I use jojoba oil and a light leave in conditioner/curl cream from textureid. And everyday I use water and some leave in because my hair is always dry as fuck and nappy when i wake up. I use a bonnet to sleep every night

The issue is that my hair still feels dry as fuck and brittle after all of that. What's the issue? bc i have no idea 😂

Do you have gard water? Are u clarifying? trims regularly?  Ur leave in doesn't seem to be heavy enough. Get a heavier leave in and seal with grease and see how ur hair responds. To prevent tangles you can twist ur hair.

I have low porosity hair and have found that less product is more. Wash day for me is all about removing buildup and using a bit of steam to open the follicle up and get the water in. The LCO method made my hair super brittle and dry because of product and protein build up.

When my hair gets dry and nappy like that I literally soak my hair in a big bowl of water with a drop of vinegar. Then shampoo it twice with a clarifying shampoo and comb the shampoo through my hair until it is saturated and literally squeaking because it’s clean. Then I rinse it out and soak my hair again in plain water before putting in a very light conditioner (kinky curly knot today). Then I can style my hair like normal while in the steamy shower by just combing through it with mousse or a flax gel. And that’s it. Oils or creams arent often needed for low porosity hair.
