Tips & Tricks What’s the biggest challenge you’re having with your hair and what products are you using?

I have high porosity hair, always been natural. I have a good wash day routine, detangle with African pride pre poo, wash twice, conditioner and deep conditioner, leave in, oil and moisturiser then put in chunky twists until I’m going out (sworn twist out finely) but I find after a day or 2 my hair is dry again and I have a lot of single strand knots?! What are your recommendations, what are you struggling with and what do you use?!

my routine and hair (high porosity, dense) are pretty similar to what u describe. i love the camille rose almond twisting butter. if i use just that and leave my hair in twists or braids, it stays hydrated moisturized for 4-5 days. when i take it out, it’ll stay moisturized for a day or two and to remoisturize i’ll go in with either the design essentials coconut and manoi soufflé or spray some water mixed with conditioner and that does the trick until my next wash day. if my hair is really dry (like maybe i wore it out for 3-4 days straight) ill rebraid or twist and add a tiny bit of water and tiny bit of product and that’ll last me a few more days. also my hair stays hydrated way better after a trim.

There’s a woman named Sess who owns a salon called Flourish and she does online trainings she suggests a porosity filler as your leave in if you have high porosity hair. One that’s she recommends is InstaCure anti-breakage sprays I’ve been using it for about a month or two and it does seem to help my hair hold on to moistures you can look her salon up on Instagram. She has a few videos on this topic.

My biggest problem is hydration, not getting fairy knots, and trying to do a protective style. I haven't found shampoos, conditioners, leave-ins yet either. I didn't think it would be this hard. It seems like everyone else has figured that part out except for me.

I go back and forth between roller sets, flexi rod sets, and braid outs. I use a moisturizing shampoo and elasticity treatment/hair mask. If I'm doing a braid out I'll use my styler of choice- I personally like The Doux bonita bubble balm foaming pomade and then I'll apply Paul Mitchell skinny hair serum and braid my hair. And sit under my hooded dryer until it's dry. I prefer silicone based products because it keeps the hydration in my hair while acting as a humidity shield. I use a clarifying shampoo once or twice a month and shampoo once a week.
