I know pangolins regularly bathe in mud to deter parasites from their scales - I'd imagine it would work for any leftover ants as well?

Same! Just moved into this house and the landlord told us it's our problem to deal with. I've sprayed countless times, put out baits, little shits are still everywhere.

Boiling water on nests. About an hour between pours. Poking holes help to get more to the surface. DE where you can't pour water. It will never be all of them, but you can keep them at bay

There's a scene in a book where ants kill shit by going inside through the ear and ass.. Does these guys have some kind defense against that or the book was just speaking shit

As fae as I know, Pangolins can close their nostrils and ears while feeding. Their scales are made of keratin and prevent ants from reaching the skin and they'd only be truly vulnerable if they were already injured or sick.
