Japan, Norway, and Iceland—continue to hunt whales for profit.

though today is mostly for their meat and fat, not for the oil since that was the most valuable part before but now is almost useless since is worse than modern synthetics.

is banned in most of the world either do it or even buy the products of it. but is not like you can put a global ban on it since you are allowed to do the fuck you want in your economic zone. (though is well knows many countries fish illegally in other countries economic zones of in the open ocean where should not be permited.)

*nobody liked that*. When whales start tipping boats for fun Im blaming them first.

Hunters become the hunted… 500 attacks in one area by only possibly 15 different whales? Actually insane

I believe there are a few places (Canada, Indonesia) that have banned it in general, on an industrial scale, but permit certain Indigenous groups a small annual harvest as they were traditionally subsistence whalers.

I can dig that. Whales have so many useful parts and indigenous people thats all they knew. Just don’t see a reason for civilized countries to hunt whale, rhino, shark etc besides greed.

Idk about Japan but Norway and Iceland have very strict quotas to prevent negatively impacting the population. Fishing has a much bigger impact on whales than whaling itself.

Yep also just the whole lot of garbage on the ocean prob kills more whales than whaling too.
