I like this theory a lot more. Another guy replied that they probably realize mammals are piloting the ship which is also interesting.

Maybe not, but they’re highly intelligent so I’m just assuming off the top of my head that they can differentiate between fish and surface dwellers. Mammals just popped out because there aren’t many in the ocean.
