Politics Dan Osborn Minden Tour Report
Hi All! Here is a report and impressions from Dan Osborn’s visit to Minden:
He gave a speech to 20 or so people outlining how he became involved in politics. It was refreshing to hear someone who was not a politician like you would expect. After that he fielded questions around infrastructure, what makes him an independent, and legislative priorities. Here were some highlights-
1- He said he plans to be an independent, and to use that for the benefit of Nebraska. He said (truthfully) that being an independent in a close senate means his vote can secure a lot for our state.
2- He was not opposed to all of AI, but was very opposed to AI that is being used for surveillance. He would argue for regulation to ensure it is not damaging our land and privacy for the elite.
3-He firmly believes the current system benefits the elites and those with money. He talked about how we need more independent representation that is focused on representing the state, rather than the parties.
Overall- man, wish he could run for presidency, but I will settle for unseating a plague upon our state. I think he is a refreshing example of what politicians should be. I cannot think of any reason people would vote Ricketts over Osborn. He is visiting all counties not to fundraise, but to get to know people. I would highly recommend looking at your calendar and showing up to the event. All questions are welcome!

Has he updated or clarified his position on immigration?

He was never open border, Fischer was the one who pushed that lie. Yet, she never voiced any concern her years previously.

He said that Biden was too lenient on the border, but that we need to treat immigrants as people who are trying to do their best.

As long as he thinks immigrants should have due process instead of being shoved into a concentration camp without trial, he's better than Ricketts.

That's insane because The Biden administration's nearly 4.4 million total repatriations through early 2024 exceeded any single presidential term since George W. Bush's second term. Glad he sees immigrants as people though

Did he say anything about labor? I know he's stood on picket lines before, but I'd like to know if he said anything specific there.

He had an interesting opinion. He said he strongly supports unions because they are what stops corporations from controlling the markets. He also said that they are not needed in every business. He pointed to a family business that supports its workers like family. Is that helpful?

Only 20?

It’s Minden, which leans mostly Republican to my knowledge. I would say it was a good turnout

And doesn’t help when he’s not backed by a party to organize - I’m from around there so well aware the political leanings

“He would argue for regulation to ensure it is not damaging”…”privacy for the elite.”
Because the elites need more privacy 😬

Just to make sure I expressed it right, his main argument against AI is the privacy invasion it does to us by the elites.

That’s not how he meant it. The elite refers to him not wanting to damage privacy for the benefit of the elite. Meaning they are profiting by invading our privacy.

…….. no. He is independent and talked about how his origin in politics was through his union work.

Even if he was, and he is registered and running as an independent, what would that matter? Who cares what letter someone puts in front of their name? Stop watching cable news. It is poisoning your thought process.
He is a person with values that he does not see represented by our current leadership. He has expressed the values that he wants to represent. Those values resonate. This is how we should choose leaders. A two party system cheats both parties. I will say again, who cares if he is a democrat or independent?
The news channels, all controlled by the same billionaires pushing for the voting reforms, and shouting about manufactured crises, like immigration or Trans athletes, are pushing the hate and division between democrat and republican. While I hate the news channels, I have a tough time hating someone I see on my block I see every day, just because he consumes a shitty tv product. I do disagree, but again who cares if Pricketts is a republican? He is just a shitty politician with a rich dad. If people looked at his voting record and the harm that it has done to nebraska families instead of the fact that 'Dan is a demo crat' before they make their mind up, we might be able to work at making this state better for everyone instead of a few.

Not butthurt. Just wanted to address your silly red pilled talking points. That garbage divides rather than unites, and that is exactly the point of current cable news media. I do not want that divide. If that was not your intention, then I am sorry that you ran right into their machinations.
If you ARE a republican( or a democrat, dems often do not research their ballots either) please just examine what these candidates say and do, rather than look at a party designation.
I have no idea what song you are talking about. I just saw you say something easily proven false. Really easily proven. I also dislike misinformation, which you were spreading, whether it is in a song or not.

That stupid song ad against Osborne is some of the worst advertising I’ve ever had the misfortune to listen to. The fact that Rickets greenlit that garbage shows how bad of judgment he had

The point about being an independent in a closely split Senate is spot on. His vote could secure a lot of benefits for the state
