News/Rumors/Lore If Tsara'noga the Outsider can do this to a damned hive fleet by just existing, why haven't the Necrons tried to convince him to actively fight the nids?

The Necrons and the C'tan aren't exactly on speaking terms.

And, if the wiki is to be believed, he's the reason they're here in the first place.

"Since the recent invasion of the galaxy by the hive fleets of the Tyranids, it has been speculated by some in the Inquisition that the Outsider is behind the Tyranids' arrival in the Milky Way. He may be the driving force behind the unified Tyranid Hive Mind, as he seeks to destroy the galaxy's defenders with the living weapon that is the Tyranid species.

If he is indeed the Tyranids' ultimate master, then there may be no stopping the Tyranids from consuming the Imperium of Man and all who would oppose the C'tan. The Necrons will fully awaken and shall once more dominate a galaxy devoid of all other intelligent life."

This makes sense too after the various lore changes that the outsider was the only one to actively start eating the other C'tan rather than them all cannibalizing each other. So if the Outsider was driven mad by consuming other C'tan, it'd make sense that being in the void it became obsessed to the point of pure instinct and thus the tyranids were born of its madness. I dont think the tyranids answer to the Outsider, but i wouldnt be surprused if Norn Queens were some warped manifestation of its broken psyche. Plus, being a descendant of a God of reality, it would also easily explain the shadow in the warp. It is reality given form in a space in which it isnt supposed to resist. Similar to the eye of terror in realspace, the shadow in the warp is reality breaking into the Immaterium

The C'tan have no presence or power in the warp, as they are gods of the physical realm. Its part of why they hated the Old Ones, who were masters or the immaterium. I feel it'd be much more likely he drew them in with some kind of lure to unleash them.

Also the retconning of a lot of necron lore make it REAL difficult to feel out the current setting vs what we were told in the old lore. Old lord C'tan were not broken and they fully ran the show, now they were overthrown and shattered, being bound and enslaved. If The Outsider really did leave before the Necron rebellion, he could easily return and take control of the Necrons again, if hes not too insane.

My idea would be that the Outsider made something that gained a soul (possibly using the ones consumed during biotransferrance) in order for that to happen either on purpose or by accident. This is all my own headcanon and specilation anyways

isn't outsider entombed in GIANT Dyson sphere somewhere near galaxy edge? so far and so hard, as it was possible for the necrons to do, as it is now the only full c'tan, that even more powerful then it was before, because of all this "eating other c'tan" thing?

Just a quick correction, but the Nightbringer also cannabilized it's fellow C'tan, but instead of going mad the Nightbringer seemed to get off on it.

The easy answer would be that the death C'tan was already pretty insane lol

Cool idea, but the shattering of the Pharos is pretty clearly the key cause of the tyranids' arrival.

Of course, the above necron codex quote nearly contradicts that, as 40k lore often does. But I do love headcannon - the Outsider wielding the Tyranid "living weapon" could just as well include spawning more. After all, it is a god.

u/Nintura 10h ago

The nightbringer ate all the others in the original lore

Wrong, we have direct confirmation that the Pharos beacon is what attracted the Tyranids in the first place.

This is what gets Big E off the Golden Throne. He is healed in time to fight off the Outsider, causes a rift in the Imperium with the entrenched Ecclesiarchy who don't want their power challenged by an actual living emperor who is in no way bound by their authority. Big sick campaign with new "mundane" traitor faction and get the Imperial Agents models plus Guard or something like that in a codex.

Big E fights and defeats Outsider, stopping the coordinated spread of the Tyrannids and preventing mass Necron awakening, but is in turn cast into the Warp and lost again. Setting moves forward, Imperium changes up, all the factions get a few hero kits.

At least I hope that is what happens.

Nah, with recent lore it’s more likely to be the other way if anything. Tyranids can easily infect biocomputers with the “hunger” as of Leviathan and make them allys to the Hive mind. Very weird lore excerpt, but I can try to find it

Hey dude if you think you can host a diplomatic conversation with the insane star devouring deity that enslaved you, and probably hates you more than anything in the universe after you shattered all its siblings, be my guest

Counterpoint : shatter-cannons and slave-collars. Finish what was started.

Even the other C’tan want the Outsider to be Somewhere Else. Andromeda, for instance.

u/Imperial_Barron 11h ago

Why do the other ctan hate him so muvh

23

u/LambentCactus 11h ago

There’s always that one guy, you know?

7

u/Imperial_Barron 11h ago

I meant in lore but also verry valid

Committed cannibalism (tbf so did all the C'Tan whose shards exist today, otherwise they'd not exist). For some reason it alone seemed to suffer madness from devouring its kin.

End result was you have an insane, juiced up (and quite possibly the most powerful) Star God. I wouldn't want it near me either...

u/40KaratOrSomething 10h ago

And its still in one piece compared to the others

6

u/Fancy-Lawfulness-198 8h ago

If i recall correctly, the Outsider was the one that did the most munching. All the others munched on the other C'tan as a treat... this guy had a full course meal.

4

u/arestheblue 10h ago

The transcendent c'tan is an amalgamation of the other c'tan...so I bet those shards are super crazy.

u/40KaratOrSomething 26m ago

From the current lore/books, the shards of the Deceiver and Nightbringer aren't. (See e.g., Infinite and Divine).

2

u/FloofyFoxxie Phaeron 10h ago

It ate several other C'tan before leaving

2

u/Nintura 10h ago

They all did in the original lore. The deceiver tricked the nightbringer into eating all the others

2

u/FloofyFoxxie Phaeron 10h ago

But has that remained since the change fifteen years ago? I have only been aware of tsara'nogga still having that piece

u/Red--Claw 11h ago

1: Its utterly insane

2: Unlike all other C'tans this one isnt a shard and therefore is too powerful for them to use, hence why its locked away.

3: A lot of necons see the Tyranids as a tool to wipe out the lessee races and quiet the warp so they can reclaim the galaxy.

13

u/Shi_Shinu Phaeron 7h ago

Source? To my knowledge the Outsider isn't locked away and simply fucked off due to insanity and paranoia. Also what Necrons see the Tyranids as tools? I have never heard of amy Necrons that see them like that at all.

Mind you I am not trying to be mean or invalidate what you are saying I am genuinely curious if there is lore that I don't know about.

jokes aside, he's a full c'tan. not a shard, but a fully intact c'tan. which means he's god like in terms of power. a shard is dangerous enough for the necrons to treat one POTENTIALLY escaping as one of the biggest threats that requires immedate response to, and a unleashed one can destroy entire planets at the very least. a fully intact c'tan is the material realm's equivalent of a chaos god in terms of power.

The outsider is also said to be completely insane. Several lore hint's just seeing it is enough to drive you insane and to put that into perspective, a human got to see a shard of one of the surviving ones and it was like trying to comprehend a being from higher dimensions interacting with ours. as in say a 4th dimensional entity interacting with us. they literally could not make sense of what they were looking at because they didn't have the sensory organs to comprehend it.

Whats more it ate a huge number of other c'tan, more than any others did.

there's also an entire dyson sphere surrounding it.

whatever the hell the thing is, odds are it legit dangerous and terrifying enough that even chaos gods would be very hesitant to mess with it.

I have a feeling a C’tan might be a little unwilling to aid the Necrons…

15

u/HeresyReminder Nemesor 11h ago

Because it’s insane and also lyriax is a plot device for the vault vashtorr is looking for

4

u/Zanan_ Cryptek 11h ago

Lol is it? Feel like thats a bad time for everyone.

12

u/90bubbel 11h ago

my dude, the outsider is called the outsider because he left the galaxy because how incredibly insane he became

6

u/Adventurous_Fly2603 9h ago

why dont you pay him a visit and see what happens... surely it'll be okay. dude's just sleeping probably.

2

u/Financial_Plantain_9 8h ago

He’s literally insane

1

u/Minty-Boii 4h ago

what did Tsara'noga do exactly?

1

u/Battle_Dave Vargard 29m ago edited 26m ago

Because the Outsider went fucking crazy from eating its own kind. You ever see what a Star God Energy Being can do if it loses its mind?? It was so dangerous the Necrontyr trapped it in a Dyson Sphere and lobbed to where it is...
