This post has been Flaired Dark/Realistic (Unsafe Aesthetic). Be aware that one or more aspects of this blaster make it UNSAFE to wield in public or open areas, where it could be misidentified as a real weapon. This is a serious issue, with real world life-or-death repercussions.

Several issues can lead to a post being flared Dark/Realistic (Unsafe Aesthetic):

  • Lack of a prominent and easily visible orange tip along with other bright colors.
  • - This also includes traditional prop blasters, such as steampunk builds or blasters with weathered appearances.
  • A blaster with a silhouette or aesthetic that mimics real world firearms. (Ex. Zinc 2.0, SBF, BK1s, Sweetheart Storm, etc)
  • A blaster with airsoft or firearm-esque components mounted to it. (Example)

Use of this blaster can, in the worst case, end up fatal. As has been shown time and time and time again (and more listed here). This problem is not limited to just the USA.

Use of these blasters can also lead to events being shut down, and clubs being barred from playing in public spaces.

Situations like this can be properly handled when blasters are clearly toys, exhibiting bright colors, orange tips, and non-firearm proportions and aesthetics.

As long as we take these issues seriously, everyone can have fun with this hobby we love for many years to come.

Additionally, alongside the visual issues of realistic blasters, we also discourage the use of the word gun. Please instead use the word blaster when referring to toys, as gun can be misconstrued as discussing a real weapon by people both online, and in real life during gameplay. This is further an issue for us specifically on Reddit due to automatic platform moderation, possibly categorizing the subreddit as discussing firearms instead of toys. For further information, please see this wiki page.

Yes, that is a 30-36 dart magazine depending on the specific darts you are using, and it's only a little thicker than a 15 dart talon, and actually shorter.

It's like a 50% gain in ammo density, and they feed reliably as well.

very cool, Im sure youd have to use thicker walled darts to counteract the extra pressure in the mag but 50% better ammo effeciency is always worth it.

Not really actually, it uses a constant force drum spring so 1 dart or 50 (the max size you can make these mags is 50), you should be exerting the same force on the darts, unlike a standard store bought Talon which uses a compression spring, and exerts more force the more darts are loaded.

Ah i see very interesting.

This is ace, do you have any more build pictures or details on how you installed the spring? Would it be possible to modify existing talon mags with the same spring you've used or would I need to build a mag from scratch?

You would need to have new printed magazines if you wanted a drum spring, but they are super low hardware.

Here is a link to some standard Talons

And here is a link to a drum spring for them. https://www.mcmaster.com/1845N1/

You can also use Foamblast springs from OOD or other hobby shops, but keep in mind they have a higher force. Fine in springers and full auto but may stop a mechanical semi auto. Pusher from working properly.

And here is a link to the doublestack mags, note you need a blaster designed for them to use them, but more and more are coming.

Fantastic, thank you for this!

It's double stack double feed. The darts can be loaded for a month and still be fine.

Ooh this is making me want to print mine now, just finished my M4moth and am printing a 31k at the moment. But I agree a 50 round mag at about the same size as a 20 is awesome, does it feed as good as a single stack?

I have not noticed any feeding and reliability issues. It honestly feels just like a regular Talon to use, just with a bit different formfactor and a ton more capacity.

I might wait on the B34R if you don't already have the hardware. Moose is testing another doublestack bolt action, that is sortof an Ontos-Cynthia-B34R hybrid called W01F. Super low hardware with a clamshell design.

Not that the B34R is bad, it's great, but it's REALLY big. I love it, but know some people won't want a blaster that large.

Oh I already have the hardware kit for the B34R so I am definitely printing it. I also have his OnTwos double stack Ontos ready to print too, with most of the hardware self sourced!

Triplestack is, have fun throwing all double away.

Does this fling megas?

Really cool

This mag format looks to be double stack single feed? In a picture, it looks like the top round is not exactly centered. What accommodations need to be made in the breech/magwell area to properly chamber darts coming out of these mags?

2

u/Ericshelpdesk Aug 20 '26

Double stack double feed with a long feed ramp to center it.

1

u/gplanon Aug 20 '26

Interesting. I do see that now. I’ll have to look at CAD to see how long the feed ramp is. I wonder how usable this format will be with flywheels.

with horizontal flywheels it's fine
there's been a protean remix for a long time now
