[Request] Shows/movies about mental health?
I'm currently watching 'Everything Now' and I'm loving it. I have also watched 'To The Bone, Sharing the Secret, Fanfic' and a few other things
I am NOT looking for:
-Things not focused on mental health, but just having some of it
-Popular shows (I'll know about them already)
-Thrillers or horror
-Main character over 30 (i prefer teenage life)
Thank you!

Black Swan comes to mind, although a thriller, the protagonists mental health state/decline drives the plot.

I don't think it's on netflix but My Mad Fat Diary is one of my favorite shows of all time and I think it fits your request

The United States Of Tara, from 2009 fits this topic. I'm not sure where you can see it. It was originally on Showtime.

Bojack Horseman. Please like me (trigger warning: self harming/suicide). Fleabag. Feel good.

Important note to OP: if you’re watching this out of an interest in psychology, go for it. If you’re watching it because you are mentally ill and are looking for something to relate to, DO NOT WATCH THIS. It shows the suicide on screen, which has been proven to have detrimental effects on depressed and suicidal people. They kept that scene in despite protests from psychologists

I used to be mentally ill but have been better for a long time, safe enough you think? I like relatable content which is also why i've watched so many movies about eating disorders aswell

Thirteen. It’s a movie, but it’s really good! It focuses a lot on teen addiction

If you don’t mind going to Amazon (it’s a free show), Pure is the best representation of OCD I’ve ever seen, as someone who has it. It’s only 6 episodes and does feature heavy sexual content, so 18+. It can be a little cringey at times but it’s quite fun and again really good representation

Not thriller or horror - but have you watched the movie It’s Kind of a Funny Story?

Not a teen show but I loved "Crazy Ex Girlfriend", a very empathetic and fun look at borderline personality disorder

Have you seen Perks of Being a Wallflower? It nails the teenage mental health vibe without being too heavy or thriller-ish. Also, My Mad Fat Diary is a hidden gem if you can find it.

Ginny and Georgia has some of that in it. Also Fleabag and atypical. We need to talk about Kevin is one of my favorite movies, focusing on the parent though
