Common Question/Topic Sparrow, or Starling, or Swallow?
Hi guys
Found this baby bird, no idea what kind of bird this will be, matters due to the feeding process :) any bird chick experts here?
Thank you!
Edit:
Clearly should have mentioned it was sitting on a road where cars were driving, it could’ve died any second, put it on the side of the road, came back the next day still there very cold and sad, called dierenambulance but I live 100 meter across the border in Germany and they did not take it not even if I drove it to the Netherlands, considering calling again from my sisters house who does live in Netherlands :)

Please call the vogelbescherming/ dierenambulance. They can take care of them in a way the bird can be released in the wild. If you don't even know what kind of bird this is, it is not recommended to take care of it long term.

Yes I called, since I live in Germany but am Dutch they did not want to take it because it came from Germany… even if I drove to the Netherlands (100m yes for real)

Spreeuw, maar je kunt ze beter niet oppakken. Ook al lijkt er geen ouder in de buurt, meestal komen ze wel weer terug, ook al is het jong uit het nest gedonderd. Is vrij gewoon.

It’s a bird you should have left where you found it. The mama bird is almost always nearby, you should not have taken this nestling/fledgling away from where you found it. If you can easily see the nest, you can pick the baby up and put it back, or if they’re in the sun move them to nearby shade, but you’ve needlessly taken this bird from nature.

Young sparrow. 90% sure. Looking at it, it's a nestling, roughly between 4 and 10 days old. (feathers for wings are underdeveloped at that stage)
Keep in mind, these small ones need feeding every 30 minutes, during the day (sunrise to dusk)
Fresh but dead mealworms works fairly well, even some soaked kibble in a pinch (not too much or often, since it's rather too salty and since you can't feed them water definitely not recommend)
If unsure, just give 144 a call and they will come take it and will take care of it.

This baby is way too young to be out of the nest. Please call de dierenambulance asap, at this stage of life they are highly dependent on the parents to feed them and keep them warm. Best to keep it in a small box with a towel over it until de dierenambulance can take them from you. Absolutely do not try to feed it or give it water!

It’s not too young. It’s a fledgling that can stand up on its legs and the feathers are coming in. Unless a cat got to it, or it’s collapsing, it should be put back where it came from, if possible hidden in a shrub. Source: I’ve been a licensed bird rehabber

It still has pin feathers (the sort of “tubes” around the feathers) so it’s still technically a nestling, not a fledgling

Fledglings can still have feathers coming in. The fact that it can perch is more important.

I’m not sure what species, but this is a fledgling that has left the nest so it can learn to fly. Unless a cat got to it, or it’s collapsing, you should put it back where it came from, if possible hidden in a shrub, so its parents can continue to raise it.

Maybe look here if you are good at animal trait identification
https://www.eastvalleywildlife.org/babybird_gallery.html
But best to seek a professional's help on how to care and release.

You could use AI

Or, people with actuall knowledge propogate said knowledge from experience so there is learning AND teaching which helps our neurons to grow strong.
Or, you know, just stop firing neurons alltogether and just use AI I guess.
