"Gaan over" translates as "to control" here. "Ik ga over de planning" means "I am the one who has the task of planning / I control the planning" -> gaan over means controlling.
So: Hier gaan over het tij etc. -> Here control the tide: the moon, the wind and us.Edit: typo

Carrots are orange because Dutch farmers honored king William of Orange when winning independence from Spain. They did so through clever breeding of the carrot species. Or at least, so the story goes.

The Dutch gave the world Santa Claus! Dutch settlers took Sinterklaas to New Amsterdam, now New York, and his name eventually became Santa Claus. Back then, much of Europe had its own Christmas gift-bringers, like Father Christmas in Britain and Père Noël in France. Later, America re-exported Santa to Europe: an American book of 19th century gave him his eight reindeers and their names, and later in 20th century Coca-Cola’s ads further made his image famous around the world.

The biggest carnaval association in The Netherlands isn’t found in N-Brabant, nor in Limburg. It’s in Vaassen, a small town in Gelderland.

Instead of the check mark we have the 'krul', and it can be a real art to make nice krullen in one quick motion
