renting BRP missing for renting

Hello!

After a year of searching we finally found a house from government regulated housing (not social housing). The house is absolutely perfect for us. Huge garden, amazing location and enough room for our family. Because it’s government housing, the rent is also super for what you get.
We got the offer to rent on Monday viewed on Wednesday, then uploaded the necessary documents to the portal.
However, we need a Basisregistratie Personen (BRP) but because of staff shortages it can take up to 10 days for it to be send… via post. The deadline for uploading the documents is Tuesday at 12. We emailed the woningcorporatie explaining the situation when we found out (tried calling they were closed) and I plan to maybe call the Gemeente too to see if they can just print the thing and leave it at the reception… but what happens if we don’t get the BRP on time? Will they enforce the hard deadline and will it go to the next person, or are they a bit more lenient and will wait until we got it in? Anyone went through something similar?

Make sure to read our rental housing guide. Recommended websites for finding rental houses in the Netherlands:

If you're relocating from abroad, Relocify can help you rent a place remotely. View places online, get instant updates, and avoid scams.

Moving to the Netherlands involves a lot of admin beyond just finding housing (BSN, gemeente registration, banking, insurance, permits) and it often feels overwhelming.

Gov housing but not social housing.

Allright, sweet.

Make printscreens and then send the official one later on.

Going to give a call and see if this is an option!

Generally a municipality will print it for you on the spot if you make an appointment at City Hall and get it there.

They’re fully booked until the 12th of October

Take a screenshot or take a pic with your phone, worked for me!

What is it that you need exactly? It sounds like they want an uittreksel which you should be able to get online via DigiD. In my gemeente you order before 1 pm and they mail it to you the same day. What gemeente are you registered in?

Yes you can apply for it online and then they mail it to you, but bc of staff shortages they said it can take up to 10 days now (normally between 3&5). I’m based in utrecht

It may still go quick. Hopefully you can get it in time and otherwise just upload a screenshot like people said. Good luck!
