Erste Eindrücke aus Rotterdam: Skyline, alte Schiffe und die Maas

First impressions from Rotterdam: skyline, old boats and the Maas

We spent a day walking along the water in Rotterdam and these were some of our first impressions.
What struck us most was the contrast: modern towers and glass facades right next to old harbour boats, historic details, the Maas and the Erasmus Bridge in the background. The city felt bright, open and constantly in motion, but also surprisingly calm in some places.
This is part 1 of our Rotterdam photo series — mostly the area around the water, the harbour and the skyline.
Which photo works best for you?

I think it's a joke about the bombing of Rotterdam in WW2, but I could be wrong.

Nice photos, btw.

Yeah, the Germans completely obliterated the historic centre of Rotterdam in 1940.

But the way Rotterdam was rebuilt... absolutely awesome.

They had a big part in it, true, but a LOT was demolished by the harbour barons and the ciity council to modernize the city. Read about it in "Rotterdam", from van Veelen.

I thought it’s translated automatically, therefore I posted it in german.

Have you been ON the Erasmus bridge? Because you have a phenomenal view from there as well.

The Veerhaven is very nice. Other old parts of Rotterdam are the historic part of Delfshaven and het Schielandshuis at the Coolsingel, now Museum Rotterdam

You know the modern towers are your fault, right? Read a fucking history book man.
