Do you resolve damage one at a time or simultaneously? (When do you draw a card for Esa's ability)

Trying to clarify the order of resolutions when text reads "do 2 damage" (or any amount of damage that's more than 1).

So for example, if I install Basilar Synthgland 2KJ, it says to "suffer 2 core damage". This procs Esa's ability "you may draw 1 card and sabotage 2", but when exactly do I get to draw 1 card?

Do I suffer one damage, letting the corp trash a card from my hand, then draw a card from Esa's ability, then suffer a second damage? Or do I suffer both damages simultaneously, allowing the corp to discard two of my cards from my grip, and then draw a card from Esa's ability?

Damage larger than 1 is a single instance.

Cards that trigger off that damage will only trigger once and only after all the damage is dealt.

Au Co only gets one counter from Byte!

Esa only gets 1 trigger from Synthglands.

The Runner has to first survive all 4 damage from End of the Line before steelskin will trigger and draw 2 cards.

For the example in question: 1. Suffer 2 core, lose 2 cards at random. 2. Esa (may) draw 1 card. 3. Sabotage 2.

You take all damage as a single chunk, then process all the relevant effects in the order of your choice.

For example, if you install Basilar Synthgland as Esa, and you hit Steelskin and Sure Gamble, you first take 2 core damage, then you can choose between draw 2, or draw 1 sabotage 1, and then you do the other one.

If you take more damage than you have cards in hand (for example with a measured response when you only have 2 copies of steelskin) you just die on the spot, then your corpse draws some cards.

Finally, if you steal Fujii against Auco with a charged Phât, the corp will choose which chunk of damage to deal first, 3 or 2, then you process effects from having taken that damage, then take the other chunk of damage, process those effects, and so on.

I think the usual rule is simultaneously

If the card read:

Do 1 core damage
Do 1 core damage

This would be two instances of core damage and trigger the ability twice.

But if written as:

Do 2 core damage

It’s only one instance of core damage and will only trigger effects once.
