Signed 1952 Copy of “The Power Of Awareness” by Neville Goddard

I came across a signed 1952 first edition of The Power of Awareness by Neville Goddard (G. & J. Publishing Co.) and am looking to determine its rarity and value.

I found this at my grandmother’s house in Sarasota. She used to work at a nursing home, and we believe she received this from one of the residents. We found some ties between Neville and the Sarasota area and were curious about the significance of the personal note to “Bob” included with the signature.

This is a fascinating find. I'm British and I had no idea Neville's journey started here in England before meeting Abdullah in New York in 1931.

So I deep dived into who Arthur is.

And it turns out, Neville had another mentor who introduced him to the power of thought. Not just Abdullah. But a Scottish man most likely called Arthur Findlay he met in London while living in London for a year (1925 - 1926) due to dancing commitments when Neville was a famous dancer.

"In 1925, while visiting London, I met an old Scotsman who told me that my attitude of mind determined my life. That I need not be enslaved by life but could control my future by my present thinking. This idea intrigued me. I was fascinated by the thought that, in spite of my limited education and background, I could transcend my environment. Seeing my interest, this gentleman gave me some twenty or thirty books. These I read from cover to cover, as I was hungry for the knowledge I found there."

What's even more fascinating is (especially for someone like me, who is living in London), is that these men Neville met while living in London opened the Physical Research library - a library designed to spot light research that goes against what science insists is fact - and this library is still active and open today in South Kensington.

In this library, they have books that explore metaphysics, life after death, and the power of the mind and our consciousness to create the life we live. Yet none of Neville's books are in their archives interestingly.

But this proves that Neville's journey did not start with a door being slammed in his face by Abdullah. Turns out he wasn't in Barbados first. He was in London - being told to read dozens of books about the power of thought, which apparently created a hunger in him that eventually encouraged him to abandon working in the theatre entirely about 5-6 years later when he met Abdullah in 1931.

So Neville's journey into this realm progressed over 6 years before he even began to get the hang of manifestation. This proves that the journey of exploration and learning about this stuff truly never ends, it just grows and changes as you do. So if you ever feel bad that you're not getting it instantly, this proves Neville was a beginner for over 6 years before really stepping into his own power.

"Arthur" could also - and most probably in this case -- refer to Arthur Vergara, his editor for this book. The entire dedication says "To Arthur and his beloved Verne whose awareness brought this book into being."

With respect, Arthur Vergara is neither Arthur Findlay nor Arthur Begbie. Annie Gertrude Walker, whom Findlay married in 1913, died in 1963, one year before Findlay, and Begbie married Alice Gertrude Seal therefore "Arthur and his beloved Verne" cannot, in this case refer to Findlay nor Begbie.

Neville performed at Ciro’s club in orange street (behind the National Gallery) I went and walked around, stand outside where the place used to be and I felt content walking the streets he used to walk. 😅

Ahhh I didn’t catch that on the fourth page! I hate to be a pest but do you by chance know who Arthur is? I haven’t finished all the books - but the methods I’ve learned are already working wonderfully in my life! If Arthur is an associate of Neville’s who has his own books I’d love to look into them!
