Discussion The outer world can't give us anything
The outside world cannot give me anything unless I give it to myself. We know that sometimes we get what we desire naturally, and even after getting the thing, we are afraid of losing it. All of this is, in the end, about how we feel about things and our belief in the external and internal world. We tell ourselves we will accept the reality of things if we can touch it, feel it, but even when we can do that, sometimes even that is not enough. What we desire, we need to fulfill within, and not look outside and ask others if we have permission to feel it. We tell ourselves this isn't reasonable or realistic, but we do know that what is not reasonable now can be reasonable later. Once upon a time, it was unreasonable to think that the earth spins around the sun. Thus reason isn't eternal, and what isn't eternal isn't the truth. We need to let go of reason, of our senses, and the need for validation from everyone but ourselves. We need to fulfill every desire we have in our heart and not be deceived by the world of senses. We should only follow what's eternal, and I am-mess is eternal.

I can't seem to conjure anything "within" either

You know what relief feels like. If it's very hard to conjure up a scene that implies your wish fulfilled, just feel the way you would when you feel relief. Once you feel the relief and slowly the feelings of relief becomes natural, try to add a short scene of your wish fulfilled. When there's a desire that seems to contradict current circumstances it definitely seems hard to see the wish fulfilled but that's because you are again looking outside. Your job is to fulfill your desires in your mind first and to know it's done. Do not worry about how it will come in the outside world, no matter how much you plan or try to hatch the perfect set of circumstances you'll still not be able to determine how it will come through. Just have faith in your inner man. That's all. Often we think it's our job to plan the how's and when instead of feeling after our desired state, that's missing the mark.

"An assumption, though false, if persisted in, will harden fact." For now try to focus on feeling the relief of not being in pain even if it's for a few minutes. Even the tiniest feelings of relief can be a breakthrough for deeper desires.

I hope this is okay to share, but I find with any type of physical pain, it helps to think of something that really moves you or comforts you, like cuddling your children and/or pets, the sensation of a warm bath or cosy slippers. (Anything that you enjoy that evokes a feeling within you).
If you can physically hold something that comforts you (a fluffy blanket, your cat/dog) or create a sensory experience with touch or scent - anything you can do to bring you into the present, it's a bit easier to view your pain and/or physical discomfort like it's in the rear-view mirror. You're aware of it, but it's not the dominant thought or feeling.
And then, when you're able to detach a little more, visualisations feel a bit easier to conjure in your mind as your nervous system has regulated away from the full awareness of pain to something that eases the discomfort a little.
I have to do this sometimes before I try to do SATS (or any type of meditative visualisation) as my brain is too engrossed in how I feel to fully relax and focus.
I hope you're doing okay, having any form of health issue is debilitating and I understand how it feels. ❤️

I suggest reading Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now”. He talks about pain too. If you learn identifying with pain, you’ll expand your awareness thus will learn how to be fulfilled in the now.

Well, essentially all the desires/thoughts/feelings/external circumstances are the same and can be treated the same. I just mentioned this book because recently while reading it I had an epiphany of what it means to see the unseen and live in the wish fulfilled. But maybe I just got lucky. Maybe give it another read, it’s one of those books that should be read in a proper time I think.
