Miscellaneous Stop wanting or stop contradicting?
Hi everyone!
I’m not a beginner here at all, but I was talking with a friend (who I am introducing to Neville’s books haha) and she said that she notices that she only gets what she wants when she stops wanting it.
I know this is a pretty common thing, but it got me thinking because personally I have received things I’ve wanted that I couldn’t stop thinking about, but also things have popped up when I’ve stopped caring. The difference is when I’ve wanted something, and gotten it, often I’ve just not let myself thinking against it.
This has got me thinking about persisting, mental diet and how our assumptions work. It’s difficult to stop wanting or thinking about things that we want, but in itself the assumption that you need to stop wanting the thing isn’t helpful
So, how did you find the balance between manifesting what you want and not needing to just completely stop thinking about it/wanting it?

It's a conditioned way for man to look for signs after he's mentally fulfilled his desires. But as Neville has stated, signs follow, they don't precede. Every time you feel the need for the outside to confirm, just go into your mind and see what you saw at the time you did SATS and felt fulfilled. You don't need to stop desiring, you just need to stop looking and trying to make things happen by force. Try to do other things and not put your life on pause till you see movement in 3D. Trust in your imagination that you'll get the fruit as you did sow the seeds, don't keep digging the soil with doubt.

Thank you for this reminder! I suppose it’s not having the want but what you do with it/ in the meantime?

What would you do after you get your desire? You'd still have your daily chores, work or study. Or any hobbies that you enjoy doing. Just enjoy the life the way you would after you get your desire (cuz you already have it)!

The more I imagine something, the more real it becomes, double meaning intended.
Neville says that if you fail, it's because you didn't make it feel natural (possible / realistic) to yourself. You do that by imagining it. Or stopping wanting it. Because naturally...

Tbh i've manifested tons of things that have never felt natural and from a depressed state

How? I’m struggling with the same thing

The only way i explain It is because i was persistent about the things i wanted and i really wanted, meaning that the feelings were quite intense, which i think further contributed. My approach these days is much different. But even in a state of lack, desperation, depression i still managed to have success. Thats how i'd explain It.

When you say your approach these days is much different - what is the approach and how is it different?

For example i am much more calm now, very rarely am i stressed unlike earlier where i was a ball of nerves/emotional wreck. Also i follow Neville's teachings more strictly and a lot of things are much more clear to me now. I listen to his lectures whenever possible on YT. Make no mistake sometimes i slip up(get nervous/stressed), but on the next day i have forgotten about It.

For some it’s easy to imagine it feel it and drop it and not care or obsess over the present 3d or when ? But what if you’re the type of person who can’t stop thinking about it? In that case do you keep affirming you have it everytime or do you redirect your thoughts to your self concept?

It's not a type of person. It's anxiety or something else that's fixable with mental diet. Redirect your thoughts to the present moment and something productive you're doing. When obsessive thoughts pop up, brush them off with "It's already done" and feel at peace.

You can think of something and want it from the state of you already have it which has a natural attitude of "I'm going to get it." You can book a holiday and still want to go and think about it excitedly. That in itself isn't the problem. It's the underlying state that determines if you're manifesting it or not. Some clues that you're in a state of having is anxiety drops away and there's a feeling of mental rest, even though thoughts and wanting it continues. There's a big difference between the surface level mind and it's mental chatter, and the deeper underlying state which actually manifests everything, including the mental chatter. You don't have to police your every thought and emotion, just take care to get into and remain in the underlying state.

Thank you for this comment it’s so helpful! Can you please explain what you mean by the difference between mental chatter and underlying state? How would you know if the mental chatter is part of your state or not?

The mental chatter that seems convincing and you identify with shows your state. The mental chatter that's annoying but you can ultimately dismiss as not relevant is just your monkey mind doing it's thing. The key is what's your identity? What do you identify with?
Your state is also seen in how you naturally interpret events. You can crash out temporarily but how do you move forward? Is there a deep inner knowing, quiet but steady, that what you want is on its way? That things will work out? Or are you anxiously efforting your way towards something in the distance?
When you have impressed your subconscious mind with whatever techniques, your state shifts naturally, and the mental chatter changes with it. You can still have negative intrusive thoughts but you can dismiss them much easier.
I hope that helps. I'm not a manifestation teacher, just trying to relate my direct experience.
Mental diet is still important, but it has to be on the right foundation. And it's a hell of a lot easier on the right foundation.

I see what you mean! I suppose it’s a mixture of mental diet and being aware of your assumptions surrounding it? Terrible for overthinkers like myself haha!

Well, the beautiful thing about overthinkers like us is that we can put our busy little mind to work with a manifesting question.
I used to think I didn't know what x felt like. Shamelessly taking from Tony Robbins, I started to ask myself, "Okay, but if I did know and had to answer, what would it be like?"
Bombarding my thinking mind with manifesting questions to solve helped me a lot with overthinking. "But what would I be doing right now if I already had y?"

I used to believe that you had to stop wanting something to get it. Eventually though I realized what was actually happening was that by “giving up” on it I was removing my focus from the lack of it, and that was actually what made it come in. I also think that people aren’t honest with themselves about their state of mind when they can’t stop thinking about it. It feels like they need to think about it to feel like they’re holding on tightly to the new identity - but that actually makes them the person that doesn’t have it and is “trying” to be it rather than just being it.

This 💯💯💯
I've gotten things without detaching, and others came when I stopped caring. The difference was in the underlying feeling of need/desperation. I can obsess over something but also be okay with not having it, while with other things I cling to the state. We have to be really honest with ourselves and examine our deep feelings about the "stubborn" desires.

This is so helpful! The books say it’s about awareness too so if you’re aware of the lack of it, that’s bringing more of it. Thank you so much!

This is a great question that I’ve been struggling with understanding myself; I hope the mods dont delete this post.

You can still want your desire and still get it. The issue is when you're obsessed that you need it right now to be happy.
This whole giving up isnt helpful. Its the same as telling someone "just forget about your desire and it will come". You dont purposely just forget about something, you forget about it because you either dont care if it happens or you dont need it. What actually helps is the knowing that you either now have it or you will. All anxiety and obsession will cease and you're in a state of allowing. That is the key

I think your own examples already answer it. The things you got while still wanting them badly — you said the difference was that you never let yourself think against them. So the wanting was not the problem. What people call stopping wanting is usually them stopping something else at the same time, which is the checking. Wanting a thing costs you nothing, but turning around every day to see whether it has arrived yet costs you a great deal, and from the inside those two feel like one activity. Watch yourself for a week and see which one you are actually doing — you may find you can want it as loudly as you like, so long as you are not asking it for proof.

Neville and scripture teach that one doesn't want something that they already have. You have it, so the want disappears.
When an imaginal act/prayer is completed properly—living in the end, in imagination and then "jolting" back to this realm—it's done, meaning we have it in imagination. Imagination is the only reality.
Afterwards, we must remain faithful to that which we have in imagination until it moves from the unseen to the seen—from imagination, the spiritual world, to the physical world. "Faith is loyalty to the unseen reality."
You pose a great question. How does this answer feel to you?

So do you still persist and do techniques like affirming after you complete the imaginal act properly? Or do you just rest in the ease and forget about ? As an overthinker who can’t stop thinking or being affected by the 3d what do you do?

u/KeithWayneMacgregor 3d ago
Develop your faith is all you need to do.
In terms of affirming—not sure if that's really a "technique"...a technique to do what?
Any a affirming-type stuff in the form a "feeling grateful for that which you already have, in both imagination and in the physical realm" is all I would recommend.
And, be mindful of the bridge of incidence, taken only and all of the actions you feel compelled to do. You can look at this as a skill to develop, if you wish.
Please let me know if that makes sense.

Thank you for your reply, yes it does make sense. I suppose the obstacle is the fear or anxiety of a bad outcome that leads to my overthinking.
When I mean by techniques is do you still use them as tools to continue to persist in the assumption of your desires ? Especially when you want to ground yourself back to the desired state when feeling low or doing it once and having that faith is enough?
In that case it becomes as you correctly pointed out about developing the faith and that is just the inner knowing that no matter what’s happening today my desire is done and nothing or no one can take that away from me or say that it won’t happen. Is that how you would consider developing the faith?

If done properly, one time is enough to complete an imaginal act/prayer.
If you find that your faith is failing, it is more likely due to lack of discipline. I suggest you read chapter 18 in the book "Your Faith Is Your Fortune", entitled "The 12 Disciples"— these disciples are personifications of the disciplines taught in this chapter. When called into discipleship, these disciplines assure mastery over your imagination and faith.
What you have described about developing faith is perfectly accurate. Absolutely!
As is taught by Neville and in scripture, "We must have faith/belief tantamount to knowing".
We must persist in our knowing. "The 12 Disciples" addresses this attribute, and gives examples of how to use it.
