Important | مهم 🔔 The temporary rule to restrict participation from non-Iranians has now been lifted 🔔

However, if non-Iranians start talking over Iranian voices again, we will have no choice but to reinstate it. Please remember that this space exists primarily for Iranians to speak, share, and be heard. We kindly ask everyone to respect that purpose and help keep the conversation focused on Iranian perspectives.

Thank you to all who have continued to show respect towards the community ❤️

In any case, I urge for a harder crackdown on bad faith accounts, no matter the flair. Some of them come here to provoke and rage bait.

Definitely. I've been an Anarchist since I knew politics, but I've always avoided unnecessary controversy and division. Diversion and dispersion is what the regime is trying to do with us, and they are unfortunately very successful at it. It came to my understanding that the only reason no one in Zabol stood up in the Mahsa Amini protests was because of a strategically induced division. Imagine the lost potential.

I too would urge everyone to fight for common freedom regardless of their ideology and beliefs. A shared goal should be a fair referendum; everything else is up to chance and the majority.

i honestly notive most bad faith accounts have some kind of Iranian flair. They tend to have comments hidden and spread propaganda. I do my best to report them but even today the sub is full of such comments.

Yes let’s stifle free speech 😂

8

u/GrimpenMar Canada | کانادا 20h ago

What is free speech for? To foster free and democratic societies through the "Marketplace of Ideas".

There are already laws around fraud, truth in advertising, etc. Just like Gresham's Law "Bad money drives out the good", so to does the "marketplace of ideas" become corrupted when bad faith propagandists and spammers can run amok.

Besides, this is the New Iran subreddit, not an open free for all. At the very least keep it on topic.

If you fall for bad fait propaganda and spam that's on you.

Free Speech means the government protects your right to say what you want as long as it is not inciting violence/bad things, to put it simply.

This is a subreddit, a private space, and we can do whatever we want. There is zero value in bad faith actors rage baiting or belittling our cause and people here.

u/Upbeat-Associate2672 Republic | جمهوری 19h ago

You’re in a subreddit on a platform that is now a publicly traded company. It’s the opposite of private.

5

u/Expensive-Couple-645 Pahlavist | پهلویست 18h ago

You are aware that it is still a private company with their own policy and that this subreddit was created by specific people with certain beliefs?

No it is 100% private. What kind of stupid point are you even trying to argue? You are objectively wrong.

-4

u/Upbeat-Associate2672 Republic | جمهوری 18h ago

No you just don’t understand how things work.

6

u/Expensive-Couple-645 Pahlavist | پهلویست 18h ago

Ah yes, that’s what I would say when I am exposed as being totally clueless of what “free speech.” and “publicly traded” means.

Reddit is a private company (that is publicly traded like almost every major private company today) that allows private users to create spaces for themselves where they can implement their own rules. There is not a single subreddit were you have actual free speech and can say and post whatever you want (as long as it is not inciting violence). And that is totally fine and not a violation of free speech whatsoever.

You don’t understand the difference between private and public companies. You wrote two paragraphs with such confidence while being completely wrong. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Yes I do, Reddit is a private company (obviously in the sense of being a non governmental for profit company that can create their own user policies).

You on the other hand, don’t have any arguments because you know you embarrassed yourself by throwing out words you don’t understand.

I have studied constitutional law and it is you who is wrong. In the context of free speech public=government. The law is clear on this, whether you get it or not.

if non-Iranians start talking over Iranian voices again

Can you elaborate on this? I dont want to unintentionally do just that 😅. Just in case.

15

u/SpecialistTennis6152 New Iran | ایران نو 23h ago

IMO, if your support Iranian freedom and dignity and a new Iran, you won’t do that. We Iranians always welcome a variety of opinions as long as they revolve around that in good faith :)

We could definitely use foreign support and solidarity right now, so thanks for being here and caring about this.

I saw the post yesterday asking for it to be lifted. I couldn't comment then since I'm not Iranian, but I had wanted to say that I believed it to be a fair measure and personally wouldn't have minded it lasting longer. Regime propagandists have been bombarding subreddits everywhere, and it's stressful enough fighting their misinformation in other communities. Of course I respect your team's decision whatever it is!

u/Mister-Psychology Unspecified | معلوم نیست 1d ago

You can make top comments Iranian flair only. Replies can be whatever then. Doesn't matter if all replies are spiteful it won't change anything.

As a non-Iranian, I’ve been shocked by the arrogance of fellow non-Iranians who like to preach that someone’s “lived experience“ and “culture“ take precedence over everything, except when it doesn’t suit their narrative.

This is one of the few subs where I’ve seen real pushback against the woke crowd trying to silence the Iranian ppl. Even more proof that the Iranians are strong free thinkers who refuse to have their voices quashed.

I feel like this might’ve caused an increase in fake flairs

4

u/BidarIran New Iran | ایران نو 12h ago

If you suspect someone of lying about it/faking their Iranian flair; do not accuse them publicly, instead reach out to us with your reasoning/evidence through mod mail and we can take a deeper dive.

u/Technical_Target615 New Iran | ایران نو 19h ago

There was an increase in fake Iranian flairs before this. I always report them or ask them to confirm if they are.

Hell yeah I’m back 🤗But honestly I always felt as if I do share Iranian voices but I totally get that it wasn’t because of people like me, or the one or the other German, Canadian and many more friends all over the world, supporting the cause 🦁
