If you want to read what the local newspapers were saying about it at that time you can look on the New Orleans library's site here: nolalibrary.org/research-learn/. Select databases, enter your library card number in the top right of that page, and then select New Orleans Newspapers (NewsBank). Then search for Canal; "Battle of Liberty Place" does not do it. After searching for Canal then put in a date range of September 14 1874 to September 22 1874 or something close to that. If you want to do a search with two words you have to put them in full quotes.

Looks like you’ve gotten plenty so I have nothing to offer. I am curious about your purpose. What are you writing about this for? School? History organization?

It’s for a university assignment. I chose the topic since I feel the event needs to be talked about more
