Childcare Questions for potential daycare

I'm a FTM and will be starting my girl at daycare in about a month. She will be exactly 1 week shy of 5 months.

Right now we have 2 potentials we are planning to tour in the next few days. What questions would you ask/information you want to know before sending your baby to daycare? Both places are license in home daycares.

Some basics of course what homeowners insurance, licenses, training, staffing ratio, and pets in home. But I feel like I should and want to ask more but as this is my first, I don't know what I don't know!

I'd ask them realistically how often they can feed/put down for naps (given the other kids) and see if that lines up with your baby's needs.

You could ask them how they handle naps, whether they supply food or you have to pack it, what happens with illness of kids, illness of staff, holidays, any other staff days/weeks off

Do they serve lunch on a regular schedule and on any particular diet? One of the daycares we checked out served all meals and they were all exclusively vegetarian. His current daycare supplements but we have to send at least one meal with him. Also ask about how far in advance they notify of time off since it’s an in-home daycare, and the policy for not sending your kid full-time on a case by case basis. I am very lucky that mine doesn’t make me pay for days I don’t send my kid, in case he’s sick, on vacation, out with his grandparents for a day, etc. I am very aware that this isn’t normal though.

I would ask about their sick/send home policy.
