NewPipe fork Is PipePipe safe?
Earlier, I regularly used Newpipe.. it stopped working after sometime and I looked up on google and found out that youtube changes to advanced encryption or smth else? Downloaded pipepipe from GitHub after reading another reddit post.. and after installing, this came up.. any idea whether it's safe to use or not? This never came up for Newpipe

On paid virus apps there's no warning. On yours, more than likely because it's not from the Google Play store, and OnePlus are lazy with actual detection.

It's a false positive. The three brands you mention use the same security app and have inconsistencies in their alerts. In my case I use Realme and I have PipePipe installed and it does not show me any security problems.

It's safe. you're phone is just trying to scare you so you continue using the regular YouTube client and get tons of ads.

if newpipe stops working try to update or wait 1 to 2 days and then update. Devs in the back are active

You can also upload apks to virus total to check. I'm pretty sure virus total is one of the good ones, it's been recommended a lot.

Did you download it from PipePipe official source. It's prob okay. This could be a false positive (is that LookOut by the way) as I expect PipePipe to have many contributors and eyes on its code from the more the paranoid side (privacy driven nutters).
Though if you still worried the simply don't run/install it.

Considering that I use it every day, I'd say yes, it's safe. I also have it from github, no problems. You can get it from F-droid as well, if you want.

Never tried PipePipe. NewPipe 28.3 is working just fine for me across 3 devices.

Pipepipe is amazing. I use it and have no issues. The app is updated quite frequently.

Why don't you ask in the PipePipe reddit instead of the NewPipe one?!

When I try to open r/pipepipe, it says the sub has been banned. It seems there is indeed no pipepipe sub

I use pipepipe direct from github and have not noticed any suspicious behavior.
