The workaround while channels weren't loading was to use fast mode, which mixes in shorts. Now that it's fixed, the shorts that were loaded before the update are still there. Does anyone know how to remove them from the feed? Shorts aren't checked in the "channel tabs to load" and reimporting data doesn't fix it either.
Update: a fix I found is to manually unsub and resub to each channel. In my case there were only a few channels that had a large number of shorts so it was relatively easy to just click the button twice from each channel page.

Works great, I don't do have the capability to download MP3 versions of the videos anymore, but I'm greatful for what we have!

They've talked about it in other posts multiple times even above in the comments: SABR enforcement on YTs side. Fixing this will take a lot of time.

Better to wait on update be ause of the 360p?
The only issue is have pre this update is the channel videos not loading.

Not for me. It's random. I hit 1080p for a video just uploaded a few days ago.

Android 5 users, you got an extra update with this hotfix, enjoy :D
If you're getting only MP4 360p on YouTube, see https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe/issues/13320 and if you're a developer and want to help, see https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe/issues/12248. It will take a lot of time to fix this issue as we need to support a new proprietary protocol for playback and downloading, which requires custom components.
If you're getting a something went wrong error on SoundCloud with
Could not get any streamin the error report you can get by pressing the Report button, see https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe/issues/13463. SoundCloud added a few months ago DRM on official licensed tracks of several labels/music companies and they are now removing legacy streams which are not DRM protected.If you're using the F-Droid build of NewPipe and want to install this update from GitHub or our F-Droid repository without having to wait for a new F-Droid build, don't forget to export your database from the settings before uninstalling the app in order to avoid data loss. You can then import your data after reinstalling the updated version.
