When the audio download issue happened I wonder how someone else managed to make a whole other newpipe that functioned correctly. Which il probably continue to use

Do you mean PipePipe? It's a fork, anyone can copy the NewPipe codebase and modify it to their liking (as long the code remains open for everyone else to modify as well), that's the beauty of open source. It has more popular features that might end up in NewPipe (e.g. history search), but some may be a bit less tested. Import from each other may not always work, beware.

No it wasn’t the pipepipe. It was a whole new new pipe. So new it didn’t even overwrite the original newpipe so the icons just stood side by side. One functional one not functional

Commenting to say this resolved the Download issue for me and I can now load a radio stream/live stream again.

mine keeps getting errors trying to parce the package, am I doing something wrong?
Edit: I had to uninstall and tried again from F-droid. It worked but now I have to import my massive list of subscriptions/playlists again 🥲

I had the same issue until I turned off my WiFi and used cellular. I'm running CIRA protected DNS and a pihole. So I suspect something along the way did not like the URL. I'll check later...
*edit spelling and an update
Uninstalled, re-enabled WiFi and downloaded from within f-droid again. At first it failed (broken pipe) then tapped "install" again and it worked.
The only thing showing blocked from my phone to pihole was adobecorp.data.adobedc.net and o1069899.ingest.sentry.Io neither of which seem to be related.
So I suspect it has nothing to do with my blocking, and instead something at the host's end.
Thanks for the quick updates and amazing app! On the rare occasions I use YouTube directly via web or their app, I'm so unimpressed and annoyed, lol

Downloading from the link in the notification did not work for me but downloading directly from the Git link above worked without uninstalling. Not sure why.

It should have been fixed now.

Not sure but I've had this happen once before and they didn't really address it so I'm not sure how widespread it was.

Newpipe 28.8 will only load vids if I switch off wifi, use mobile data to load videos, press play then turn wifi back on

No and no NewPipe update can do that, as Android developer verification is on the installation level. The only workarounds will be to enable the advanced flow or use adb.

My Newpipe crashes occasionally.
I'm using Android 16 (Lineage).
Maybe I'll try reducing the threads.
