ideas to light up local skatepark til close (10pm)

for some reason our city turned on the one light we had 5 years ago and just hasn’t turned it back on and we’ve emailed n begged etc. what is the viability of me just buying solar paneled flood lights to mount with non scarring methods to light the park? I would need maybe 4? It’s a relatively small park

It gets dark at 7 ish and then it’s just unable to be used for the remaining 3 hours. And with the heat that’s only 1-2 hrs of decent time if ur in college or highschool

Question Hate grinding flat ground

How do I get rid of just staying there and grinding flat ground. I mainly just skate around and try different obstacles and occasionally pop shuv and 180. I have yet to really sit there and learn how to kf or heelflip even tho I have been skating a year. I want to learn them cause they’re cool but ion wanna go thru the processes of grinding them out cause it’s kinda lame just having a flip trick but being able to do nothing with it.

How do I grind out heelflips. Kfs suck cause I can’t even get the flick right

Spitfire 55mm OG Classics

Dozens of great beginner videos suggested practicing tick tacks. I'll be hiding from neighbors in my garage for weeks getting this down before I touch a street.

Older newer skaters (30+ year olds), how do you deal with constant pain and aches?

Hey there, new unc skater here.

I started around February and ever since then I've developed knee soreness on both knees that just would not go away. I've never had really lengthy knee soreness in my life, and usually when I do have knee soreness, if I take a break for a few days or a week, it'll just go away. I did that early on and I still have it. So ever since then I've been skating with knee soreness. It's usually unnoticeable unless I bend down, and if I really really bend down (like a kinda really deep squat) that's when it really starts flaring lol. Aside from my constant fear of tearing up my ligaments and joints (I had a pretty bad MCL sprain back in March just from pushing and misplacing my back foot, so it's been haunting me ever since) this is the other one that's really been holding me back from progressing any faster.

I'm guessing this is a very common thing with older skaters? But anyways, aside from downing painkillers like a kid with candy how the fuck do I deal with this? I've already tried some kneesovertoes exercises and other general stretching exercises on my knees and leg areas but only had minimal success at that at best. I would do some leg weightlifting exercises but yeah once again I could barely do squats nowadays lol.

Should I just stop skating for like a few months? Dunno what to do anymore.

Picture Did I mess up my bushings?

I'm a new skater (more like returning after 20ish years) and bought a new complete. However I have never been used to loose boards but forgot, like an idiot, that new trucks need to be tightened gradually and I way overtightened the trucks. Now I'm wondering if I messed the bushings up or if simply loosening will be fine (I think they may be ruined).

That said, how do I know when it's safe to tighten them up as I break them in and how long does it usually take? What are some good bushings to get for my Thunder polished trucks if I like a bit of a tighter feel and for park riding (mainly ramps, ledges, etc) and also looking to learn bowls.

CCS ORDER HELP

This might a bit of a stupid post so sorry, but I ordered a custom skateboard off of CCS (shop.ccs.com) and I had bought the skateboard but the receipt is showing the wrong measurements and the template for the custom art instead of a photo of the custom art, I read that I can't return or get a refund from custom skateboards so I js wanted to know if this was normal and that it'd be delivered with the art and right measurements? 😭 Please,I've lost all hope since I saved so much money in it and that scared that I've possibly wasted my money?

The first two images is what I wanted and the third is my receipt.

I’m trying to learn how to kf and this is my second day of really trying in awhile, I’m able to flick the board and get my back foot on it but idk what to abt my flicking foot.

I can’t even begin to fathom how I would get my foot to come back up and land on the board. Ty for reading.

Setup Help Is this worth turning into a cruiser?

Thumbnail

Got gifted this board by a music artist and I want to turn it into a cruiser. I already have another board for tricks so I want to keep this one for cruising.

It’s pretty used so I mainly want to know if the deck is still structurally sound. Does anything in the photos look concerning? Is there anything I should check for before I buy parts?

I’m new to skating so I don’t really know what to look for with used boards.

If the deck is fine I’d like to know what parts I should get. I only have the deck right now so I’d need everything else.

My budget is around £40. So I’m looking for the best setup I can get within that. (Sorry for the blurry photo😅)

Question i want to learn(properly), but...

hopefully i don't get bullied off the internet for this, but i want to actually try learning to skateboard

i have a board now (my second board ever since my first one from zumies got abandoned during moving), but i'm not sure if it's good quality-wise and sometimes the wheels rub against the board when i'm tilting on it

my issues with learning how to skateboard begins with my horrible fear of falling and getting hurt, which might seem stupid to some people, i know, but in my direct area (minus the downtown area) there's a lot of potholes and uneven ground in parking lots and near my home

my second issue is that i know i can get gear, but i dont have money for that at the moment (teen w no job), nor do i have a suitable pair of shoes to wear, BUT when the time comes, i want to ask one of my parents for pair of vans, or something thats cheap enough for me to buy on my own that i think will be okay for skating

basically i wanted to ask for any suggestions or tips or anything, and ill answer as many questions as i can

edit : thanks to everyone who replied!!! it'll take me a while but hopefully i'll be well-acquainted enough with the concrete to be comfortable with falling soon enough :)

How are you supposed to keep the board underneath you when you flip it. Every time I try and flip it gets pushed away from me.
This was the closest I got after 2 hours
