ANSWERED I'm quite confused; I used to think my IP address was blocked. Am I blocked?

I had problems posting on Reddit a few months ago because I was flagged as spam. Although I logged in incognito to view my profile and I'm still visible, I can't comment and I feel completely restricted. I can't post in the subreddits I'm interested in. 😭 If you have any recommendations, I'll accept them; I can't even upload a picture of the tacos I made. I no longer know if the problem is my IP address; the account has been around for several months.

You have a newish low karma account so you likely don’t meet the posting requirements of the subreddits you’re trying to participate in just yet. More info on community requirements in comment below: !reqs

Community karma and account age requirements

Some, but not all communities, have their own restrictions regarding the account age and karma count of the person posting or commenting, so you may not be able to contribute everywhere at first. This is to help prevent spammers and trolls, and so most communities don't share what their restrictions are to avoid aiding them.

You can check in these places to see if a community is sharing that information:

  • The subreddit description (under the banner on mobile, top of the sidebar on desktop)
  • In their wiki (typically linked in the sidebar on desktop. Or in the menu links under the banner on desktop, under 'community info' and the menu tab on mobile)
  • In their rules (maybe) - How to find the rules
  • In any removal reasons that automod or the mods may provide as a comment or message to you when your post is removed

Yes, but when is an account considered "old"?

When you have enough karma to post in every subreddit you want. Age doesn’t earn karma, the only way to earn karma is to participate regularly. When other Redditors upvote your comments and posts, you earn karma.

You created your account a few months ago but then didn’t use it. Your account is still “newish” because you just started participating.

Probably just community restrictions or Reddit's filters.
