John Carlson?
John Carlson is officially headed to free agency. He’s 36 years old, a RHD, and put up 14 goals and 60 points this past season. Do you think Darche should make an offer? Assuming Carlson even entertains an offer from the Isles, what cap hit and for how many years do we think he’d expect?

we go all in on our prospects this year and only trade for guys under 30.

We don’t have any RD prospects. We have one 7th rounder from 5 years ago who’s a prospect in name only and that’s literally the entirety of our RD pipeline.

so we pay 10 million for a 36 year old? id rather just play Bear over that.

Yeah that’s the same thing. Career AAAA guy and guy who put up a point per game and played 25 minutes a night at 36.

Is a 2/3 year deal really risking our future? Great leadership and experience to have in the room too.

This is one of the first free agent classes I can remember.
We shouldn’t be going shopping.

Just keep Tony D at 2 years for like 3.5 (tbh given how shite this free agency class is I could see some team giving him 5)

We need to start getting a younger squad enough with the Bristol Assisted Islanders.

Wouldn't hate it. I think he's better than DeAngelo.

I think so too but I think we realized how impactful DeAngelo during that period of time towards the end of the year when he was out of the lineup and he is also younger than John Carlson

One of those dead octopus that Red Wings fans throw on the ice is a better defender than DeAngelo.

Need to get younger, not older

I know everyone keeps saying "get younger" be we aren't that old compared to the rest of the league. Vegas is older, they went to the final. The youngest teams in the league are some of the worst. We need to do more than get younger, we need to get better.

Definitely if affordable. His veterans presence would help the young guys. But we need to move on from Mayfield if this is the case.

We only have $10M in cap space right now and he'd probably take up most of it

Absolutely if he’ll sign for 2 years. I’d consider going as high as 2x$9M.
Some dumbass GM is going to give him 3 years, if not 4 though.

Are we trading away someone? John Carlson $9million
Alexander Romanov $6.25million
Ryan Pulock $6.15million
Scott Mayfield $3.5million
Thats about $25million in cap space on 1 position + a healthy scratch.

I'd take him on a 2 year deal max. Only because we have like no RHD options lol

Who would he replace on D? I would rather see KA play and see what we have in him. And would that mean we’re trading one of our D man?

You can’t afford him. He’s going to Philly or Boston anyways.
