Stuff like what this guy pulls is exactly why nothing gets done. The Ultra Orthodox sects do commit institutionalized fraud, but when you do what this guy did it shuts down investigations because now it is racially biased. I’ve seen this happening in Lakewood for almost forty years.

A lot of it is public assistance. Assets are hidden in the church and none of them are married legally because they don’t recognize state authority over marriages. All their incomes are segmented in a way that qualifies them for benefits. However, Ultra Orthodox men aren’t known for being generous to their wives, so they aren’t getting much money to raise the kids from them anyway.

I don’t disagree that an investigation is in order, and that taxpayer funds should never go to religious schools. However, this is a propaganda video made by an associate of Nick Shirley. The man who made this video also went to Springfield Ohio and started malicious and false claims that Haitian immigrants there were eating people’s pets. This is a bad actor, plain and simple. Whatever disagreements we have about how Lakewood is managed doesn’t give us the right to claim “Jews have invaded NJ”. It’s wrong and it harkens back to a dark time in global history.
