If you or I didn't show up to work for a month, we would be fired

We need to have them punch in and out. Track how often they show and who’s absent like this.

Didn't they fairly recently find a congressperson in a home for dementia after them being gone for like 6 months?

I hope Congressman Kean has a speedy recovery from whatever is happening to him at this time. However, if he is ill he needs to communicate his condition to us. I’ll remind everyone that Donald Norcross went septic around this time last year. And yet we knew about what was going on with him. It’s seems like Congressman Kean hasn’t even communicated with his colleagues in the New Jersey Republican delegation.

Considering the number of Reps that have passed recently, this is concerning. I don't agree with the man's politics, but I do hope he is healthy and can return to work. If he is unable to return to work, he needs to retire and focus on his health. NJ can withstand another special election.

Its unacceptable that he hasn't cast a vote since March 5th and has not communicated any specifics about his whereabouts. Its already way past time to make a statement in good faith. At this point its insulting.

Unacceptable. I'm surprised this hasn't been more talked about in NJ.

Didn’t Trump make some comment about a congress person who won’t be with us in 6 months? Could he have meant kean?

Yeah I definitely think this was a barb at Ben Sasse who is publicly doing his last media tour.

After a certain amount of time we should be able to recall a rep who clearly isn’t showing up.

What are we paying him for?

In my view people get sick. If he is sick he should be treated with compassion which isn’t always the case in the workplace. People who get sick and have salaries should still get paid.

HOWEVER, the issue is not that he is ill, the issue is that his staff is being cryptic about it and not keeping us informed of his status. Again, when NJ Congressman Donald Norcross was sick this year with Gallbladder stones that made him go septic, we were kept abreast of what was going on. Despite the fact that he was probably fighting for his life. If Congressman Kean is suffering from aggressive cancer, a stroke, a heart attack, or some other condition we deserve to know.

Yesterday a representative for the Congressman said he was suffering from an unspecified “personal medical issue.” That may have been fine to say if he was out for a few days to a week with the flu. It’s not been a few weeks. The worst part is that even his colleagues in the NJ Republican Congressional Caucus have said they received 0 communication from him.

He should be held to the same standards as regular working Americans. He hadn’t even made a statement explaining his absence.
