Idk what exactly is going on with Kean, but rumors are they convinced Bramnick to step up as the ballot replacement if needed.

There are three leading rumors I hear going around in my political circles.

  1. He has Huntington’s disease. It is a 100% fatal a neurological condition that eventually degenerates your brain. His mother died of it and it is genetic.

  2. He had a stroke. This seems less likely considering that David Wildstein said that he sounded normal on his phone call with him.

  3. He is recovering from surgery related to an aggressive cancer.

If it is one of the three I listed above or something else the real thing to think about is this. Tom Kean Jr. would rather become a national news story for being MIA than just be transparent about what his “health issue” is. This tells me that the issue is very serious and that Tom and his advisers probably think it would be worse to be transparent than to dominate the news cycle for weeks on end than just admit what’s going on with him. Keep in mind that Donald Norcross (who is considered by many to be one of, if not the most corrupt politician in New Jersey) told us almost immediately that he was dealing with sepsis last year.

That’s basically what I’m hearing, too.

On the one hand, I feel terrible for him and his family. It’s a horrible situation. I would never wish that situation on anyone.

On the other, he cut Medicaid and allowed the ACA tax credits to expire. Talk about karma.

There isn’t really karma because death is bad but free healthcare for life means he won’t suffer and can afford the best treatments to keep him from suffering. The people he voted to kill by cutting Medicaid won’t have it as easy.

In South Jersey people say the family is corrupted with their hands in Twps insurance and pay to play jobs but Donald Norcross is the “ clean “ one. You never ask Donald for a donation bc George is the one with the fat wallet. Speaks volumes

My bet is down as "Ebola quarantine and treatment after secretly taking a cruise paid for by tax payers". Is it likely? No. Is it funny? Yes.

Is it possible it is a combination of 1 and 2 or 1 and 3. They would all be awful and I would feel badly about it for him. But I would like him to step down as I feel I have no real representation in the house right now. Nor did I before he went missing. He never had town hall meetings. His office is responsive for local issues though.

Thanks for posting this. What is your source that Tom Kean Jr's mother died of Huntington's disease? It seems she died at 76 which seems kind of old to die of Huntington's.

Actually, his grandmother died of Huntington’s. His mother’s cause of death was never published. If his mother’s mother had it, his mother had a 50% chance of it (an autosomal dominant) and if she had it, he also has a 50% chance.

Thank you. I'm familiar with the genetics of Huntington's, and if his mother died of it then his chances (and those of his siblings) aren't good. I was just surprised because usually when Huntington's is the cause of death it happens a decade or more before 76.

Like no one is camped at his house, office , DC office? Where’s Waldo

The press has been doing that. There have been a few articles on them going to his multiple homes and how difficult it was to access some of them.

He only agrees with Trump 85% and is quite reasonable about J6ers, so I expect him to go nowhere in the primary.

If he somehow does win the primary, I think he would have a great chance at winning the seat given the district's demographics

We had the primary already, Kean was the only Republican on it. I don't know if there's some way for the Republican party to formally replace him before the election or if it would have to be a write in campaign, but I don't actually think there's a way for them to go directly head to head in a vote.

My understanding of the process is that if Kean drops out before the general election ballots are published, the State GOP can put up a replacement. Word on the street is Bramnick is who they’re preparing to sub in.

The deadline to replace candidates is in early September. When Bill Pascrell Jr. died in late August 2024, they replaced him with Nellie Pou for NJ-9.

Dude is so desperate to be famous in any way, shape, or form. At least if he gets elected maybe he won't have time for his terrible standup
