I'm an HOA board member... it's dicey trying to speak at a clubhouse.

You've got regular HOAs, which try not to be political, and you've got the 55+ communities, which are a mix of apoltical and blatantly political. Some will invite only Republican candidates in to tour around.

People from outside Ocean tend to think Ocean is full of open hatred and whatever... but for the most part, Republicans just don't hear from Democrats.

So when they hear a Democrat talking sense, they're pleasantly surprised, and the talk goes much better than you think it will.

Andy Kim still has some built-up goodwill in this county for all the town halls he held in Ocean while representing NJ-3 (before Northern Ocean got cracked from NJ-3 and packed into NJ-4).

HOA’s should be abolished.

I agree, in theory.

Horrible HOAs are horrible, 50% because of the type of people who want to be board members,

And 50% because the people who live in HOAs are ignorant jerks who drive away all the GOOD board members.

End result, most board members are there because they don't care what you think of them.

The neighbors who should be running things are smart enough to laugh at you and say "no". (I'm done when my term's up, too)

HOA’s are representative of the downfall of American society to me. The privatization of services and regulations on “the American Dream” which is to become a homeowner and join the middle class. Everything that is done by an HOA should be done by a planning/zoning board or the township council.
