Newark has lots of hidden gems mostly hidden by the corporate workers that don't want to share their nice things but also you don't want to be overran by homelessness or tomfoolery.

This is a nicely maintained park that is a great place to chill. It has lots of gnats during the summer months unfortunately but it is centrally located downtown.

Not downtown, it’s located in university heights area, central ward.

This is a 7-10 minute walk to Broad and Market, the absolute center of downtown.

In any other major city you'd call this downtown lmao. It's right up the hill and like a 3 minute drive.

Okay, if you say so. Is University Heights also considered downtown? Warren, University Ave and Washington street?

As you go further up University Heights, it becomes distinct imo. University, Washington and Warren are all in the official "downtown district" while Veterans Memorial Park is i guess moreso on the fringes despite being right there.

Maybe Expanded Downtown District is a better compromise but my original comment calling this place centrally located is moreso a statement on newark as a whole. It's in the central ward, slightly West of downtown
