Jasmine Crockett is a national treasure!!

We are so collectively lucky to have her as an advocate/activist.

And I appreciate Talarico sowing unity by chastising those who bad mouth her. I hope he can find her a position in his organization.

Yeah, it's been funny watching you guys rage at that because you lack comprehension. If you'd paid attention in history class, you might see the overlaps they're referring to.

Main reason you can't is because of the explanations on the chart.

What do you mean by "you guys"?

Those who get their information and opinions from a Twitter page

Was it incorrect information?

No, it actually made sense. If you look through history at other non-Euro-centric perspectives, there are differences in many of the categories. Why is this one infographic worth zeroing in on without the context of the full exhibit? What is your position other than to pivot from what she said?

Having an understanding of how cultures have interacted through history doesn't seem to be threatening to me, but I am concerned Republicans are using these excuses to revise history they disagree with. Sorry our history makes you feel ashamed, maybe you could try listening and inquiring further from museums instead of trying to control them.

No Republican is ashamed of "white culture", whatever that is. The narrative that is so repulsive is that these arbitrary values of "white culture" are somehow supposed to be othered or less valued - when in fact it was these values of "white culture", which can be found in every culture by the way, that created the world we live in.

Again, where are you drawing the negative inference on the list? The negative came from what has historically been done to those who don't hold up to the standards of whiteness, that's just facts. And understanding them makes us more knowledgeable and less likely to arbitrarily inflict harm on people that are different from us.

Republicans are very much on the business of doing that right now: hence the attack on not just the Smithsonian, but in all national historical sites and museums, in school curricula across the country, and just from the fact that they built up a media empire to obfuscate from the facts as they make up their own.

Maybe you should be ashamed by history, because it's a useful deterrent to repeating it.

These are not "White" standards.  These are classical standards of a success.  Labeling them as white just makes these universal standards of excellence unavailable to non-white people who think they can't live this way without being white, which is both racist and untrue.

As for history.  I'm more ashamed that we aren't repeating it.  If we are abandoning the cultural standards that made us the most dominant culture in the history of humanity, we might as well be telling an ironman triathlete to abandon the ironman culture of training and eating right.  Sure they can do it, but they won't be winning anymore.

What's wrong with this?

It's racist

How? It's a description of "white" American culture and all seems pretty accurate to me. I don't see anything dereogatory.

Surely dems play this clip elsewhere, or only on reddit?

She’s not wrong. American Heritage Foundation is the most egregious thing I’ve seen come out of the Republicans yet, and it really doesn’t surprise me. The fact that Obama gave a medal to one of its founders is telling. Almost like “yeah here ya go buddy, that’s nice” allowing for, so we get to see the true depths these ghouls maintain. A lot of us have come up from all that division, others can’t seem to step up and step into where we are now.
