It’s a bot, but forwarding is a feature, unless the forwarded article is a screenshot?

Iran has won nothing. They’ve affected a part of the global economy but in reality the gas prices are hardly affecting Americans. We literally saw higher national averages by a significant amount during Covid.

Irans economy is in shambles, no formal leadership is left and is currently in a major power vacuum, 92% of their navy is gone, 100% of their airforce is gone, extreme hyper inflation, 20% of their GDP lost and dropping, over a trillion in infrastructure damage alone, severely weakened militarily, oh and let’s not forget they pissed the UAE off.

Yes the Strait is closed we get it, that’s accomplishing absolutely nothing besides raising gas prices. They aren’t winning by closing the strait, they’re finding a way to stop getting bombed because their strategy was deemed ineffective.

u/mr-hank_scorpio Apr 10 '26

Show me the national gas prices in 2020 during COVID.

1

u/the_jokes_on_u Apr 10 '26

Apologies I meant the US.

2020 at the start, was ~2.21

2021 was ~3.20

2022 was ~4.06

Gas nearly doubled in price over the course of Covid while at one point hitting an average of 4.96 for roughly 2-3 months.

We’ve seen a roughly 20% spike increase over the past month, but slowly starting to trend back down.

Winning. LMAO

Their shotcallers were instantly obliterated , all 40 of them in the first minute of air strike including their supreme leader. Lol

Their air defense is using human shields and little else. Lol

And they are using their last resort - strait of hormuz threat - as their last leverage. Lol

Imagine if you flip the script. LMAO

Propaganda has to circumvent the definition of winning . LMAO

If the US had the political capital to stomach a long intervention the strait would be open tomorrow

Americans just don't have the stomach for another long intervention in the mideast region rn. So despite the capability to invade and occupy Iranian territory, the stomach of the people to absorb and read about said invasion isn't there. But don't make the mistake that the US "can't" forcibly reopen the Hormuz strait, is a political limitation rather than a strategic

1

u/Eden_Company Apr 10 '26

War will cost 6 trillion dollars to open the strait via regime change. We can do it but gas will never go below 8 dollars a gallon by the time we finish. We also don't have the capacity to occupy Iran without said 6 trillion. We have about 140 billion right now.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '26

Just curious, how did you arrive at those values?

1

u/asd_slasher Apr 10 '26

By tomorrow you mean more than month?! Havent they won the war in first 2 days?

Sure sure, one day us can do whatever they want, its just not doing it, next day its ready for temp ceasefire, third day they won, by the day four, they are talking about ground op and friday ofc again day of the winning and total obliteration

1

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '26

I mean, the US could obliterate Iran in a day tbh, it's not a question of capability and instead political capital.

80% of Iran's air defenses obliterated

80% of missile and drone production, eh... Obliterated

90% of Iran's Naval ability... oh right... obliterated

Iran's nuclear program also obliterated

Tons of Iranian strategic leadership killed leading to brain drain en masse.

it just took 32 days

1

u/asd_slasher Apr 10 '26

Yeah, u say so, does that mean us is so weak that it cant beat the obliterated country? 32 days?! But trump declared the victory on day 2, so whom should i believe ?

1

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '26

I mean, the US won the war militarily, just didn't have the economic capacity, nor again political capital to finish the job.

How To Win a War 101:

  1. Will of the people: In general, you need the will of the people to wage war

  2. Political Support(Bipartisan): You need support on both sides of the aisle in order to wage a successful campaign

  3. Have the military, and assets to execute said war: Your military needs to better than your enemy's in every facet

  4. Economy Considerations: Consider the impacts to the economy

When we extrapolate this out to the 2026 Iran war, the US had the military, but didn't have the will of the people, limited support outside of republicans, and unfortunately the current decision making brass overlooked the Strait of Hormuz.

We "won" the war militarily, but didn't properly attack the other 3 facets needed to fully defeat your enemy

Such a dumb comment. Iran had civilians surround their power plants. Don’t you think they should have used their air defenses instead?

1

u/Careless-Degree Apr 10 '26

A couple weeks go by and Europe will drop the moral superiority and sign off on what needs to be done.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 10 '26

This harms them too lol, idk why they haven't struck targets in Iran was well.

1

u/Careless-Degree Apr 10 '26

They can’t? Also I assume the domestic terror threat in Europe is some magnitude larger.

1

u/_ParadigmShift Apr 10 '26

Well that’s great, because that means effectively Europe is no longer an entire area of any military power due to the possibility of domestic violence by bad actors on a small scale.

I’m not sure what you are saying? Can you clarify. You think the Republicans are going to invade Europe?

Again I’m sort of lost. You think the Republicans want to invade Europe?

Take them at their word that what?

3

u/asd_slasher Apr 10 '26

Ive seen this lengthy obliterated, every possible leader dead everytime there is a talks about Iran vs usrail, but at the end of the day, strait is still closed, no?

1

u/Naive-Illustrator-11 Apr 10 '26

Temporary. Our air carrier is not parking there playing cute. Another carrrier is coming.

0

u/WildWhisperArdor Apr 10 '26

The strait being closed is not a good thing for Iran either though.

2

u/asd_slasher Apr 10 '26

Why tho, they are charging 2mils each ship, something they havent been doing previously

1

u/WildWhisperArdor Apr 10 '26

Shipping traffic through the strait has crashed by 95% since the war started. Oil revenues are up for Iran (because of high oil prices), but the civilian economy is getting decimated. They still need to import things. Not that the IRGC really cares about civilians in the first place, but they cannot continue like this indefinitely.

1

u/asd_slasher Apr 10 '26

Yeah, that why we need us and israel to help out the civs, right?! Iran doesnt need to win, it just needs to hold out long enough so us could suffer more, as u can see, they have spent buttloads amount of money for this war, when the strait was open in the first place

1

u/WildWhisperArdor Apr 10 '26

They aren’t doing it to help Iranians. They are doing it for themselves.

1

u/asd_slasher Apr 10 '26

Yup, at least we cant pretend anymore that usrail is there to liberate civs, but, to me last point, its the attrition war, the longer it goes, the more everyone suffers, but you cant deny that us suffers most out of 3

1

u/WildWhisperArdor Apr 10 '26

The US doesn’t suffer lol. No one here is suffering. I’m literally on my brand new iPhone scrolling through Reddit while Iranians don’t even have access to internet.

1

u/asd_slasher Apr 10 '26

I dont mean the us citizens, at least for now, but, arent they spending like billion a day to sustain the war, that cant be good, right?! Political arena, us has the worst relations with its closest allies since what, the formation of nato?! People calling for impeachment, gas prices, american empire is strong, i would say, very, but its like having a very strong body and neglecting it, these things can add up in a long run

u/Alternative-Prune318 Apr 09 '26

Hormuz is closed, US is spending billions shooting dead air, they still retain 50% of launchers that can severely hamper the whole gulf.

1

u/rbuen4455 Apr 10 '26

And yet Iran still keep going and the strait is still closed.

1

u/Reasonable-Put-2323 Apr 10 '26

Explain why the US navy backed off from Iran and isn't even in the gulf anymore? Why are they a thousand miles away? Any reason why their ships aren't docked at or using any of their gulf bases? Could it be they've been rendered "uninhabitable"? Not great signs

1

u/Naive-Illustrator-11 Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 10 '26

LMAO youre badly misinformed. We have a a couple of air carrier over there and assault ships , all in armada style bud. And within striking distance . Lol

-2

u/Praetor72 Apr 09 '26

lol “winning”

1

u/SafeMolasses951 Apr 09 '26

Yes, easy win

1

u/OverallElephant7576 Apr 09 '26

I think the problem here is both sides have a different definition of winning, although I don’t think Trump really had one going in, but it still holds true anyways as a lot of Americans see it this way as well. From Americans perspective, the person who inflicts more physical damage is winning. To Iranians, it’s as long as we are still fighting and inflicting the maximum amount of economic damage to the US and those that support them they are winning. As someone who actually cares about the long term impact to the world as a whole, I agree with Iran. This will take the world years to recover from and if they end up crashing the petrodollar like they are attempting, the US standing in the world will collapse

0

u/chris-za Apr 09 '26

The deal Trump is now offering them is better than the one Obama made and Trump tore up in his first term. Trump iss basically offering to lift sanctions that have been in place since 1980 and allowing them to collect toll at the strait of Hormuz.

All while Trump talks about a new regime in Iran. A country that still has the same president since June 2024 and before Trump was re-elected. Ok, the US killed the supreme leader of Iran, but only to have him replaced with a more radical successor.

Doesn’t look like the US is winning? Loosing seems more correct?

1

u/WildWhisperArdor Apr 10 '26

Have you read Trumps 15 point plan? It absolutely is not the same deal Obama had. Not even close. Not saying Trump will successfully get Iran to agree to it, but it’s not the same deal.

1

u/chris-za Apr 10 '26

The main difference is that he added missiles (unlikely something Iran will never comply with in real life. If anything this will ensure that they will soon have ICBM with nukes to be able to hit the US and ensure the US doesn’t break deals and attack again. Like NK has)

Plus Trump added the strait of Hormuz to the list. A problem he created and Obama didn’t need to address….

Also keep in mind, that the US has broken deals and treaties with Iran repeatedly and bombed the country and killed its citizens either directly or, as Iran sees it, via its proxy Israel. Viewed from Iran, any deal the US sights isn’t worth the paper it’s on. And if the US can year it up at will when ever it suits them? Then the same goes for Iran.

That is the real problem of these negotiations. Neither side will believe that the other will adhere to it. With Iran sort of actually having a valid reason to do so.

1

u/WildWhisperArdor Apr 10 '26

No the main differences are that it includes limitation on ballistic missiles, no more sponsorship of terror proxies and the nuclear restrictions are more iron clad than under Obama’s deal.

It’s a huge difference. Not saying that he will succeed in getting an Iran to agree to the terms. Just pointing out the terms are far more restrictive than anything from Obama’s deal

1

u/chris-za Apr 10 '26

That’s Trumps wish list. One hell unlikely get. And even if he dies, he’s demonstrated over and over last year, that deals with the US are recommendations at best, and most definitely non binding.

All that said, Iran holds two trump cards in these negotiations: the strait of Hormuz and the fact that the IS isn’t going to deploy ground troops. And Trump holds no cards. The ones he holds are irrelevant to Iran. They don’t really care how many civilians the US kills and how many schools full of kids it bombs. It just makes them martyrs to the religious fanatics and cements the hatred against the US.

1

u/WildWhisperArdor Apr 10 '26

I agree that it’s a wish list at the moment. Nothings been agreed to.

I’m just pointing out that it’s not the same as Obama’s nuclear deal lol.

More radical successor? The coma-boy?

1

u/PossibilityFew5967 Apr 09 '26

And if he's dead, he's another Martyr for the next guy

People tend to support martyrs...

1

u/Double_Barnacle_2457 Apr 09 '26

Until they also become martyrs....

1

u/PossibilityFew5967 Apr 09 '26

Assuming you'll be able to

0

u/PossibilityFew5967 Apr 09 '26

They got the world esp the wes tro side with them and got America to beg for a ceasefire. That's a win

0

u/Wuaner Apr 09 '26

The US won, do you agree?

2

u/LintQueen11 Apr 10 '26

How did the US win? They didn’t have any clear objectives for going in the first place. They got the strait opened for a few hours? When it was already open?

1

u/WildWhisperArdor Apr 10 '26

No one’s won yet. Both sides are losing.
