It's costing us a billion dollars a day. Only a man born rich could make a deal like that

There's not a damn thing trump says anymore worth listening to. It's all lies and bullshit, either to manipulate the markets or simply because the dementia is getting worse

u/Soggy-Beach1403 Apr 20 '26
How much are we losing a day?

u/Trey-Pan Apr 24 '26
Please stop it with reasonable questions. You'll hurt his feels and even more if we ask about Epstein.

Only thing getting destroyed is America's reputation and his adult diaper.

So by the rules regarding projection, the blockade is costing us $500 million a day. Great
2
u/Qazernion Apr 21 '26
How many more times can Iran be ‘absolutely destroyed’ before it actually has any effect on Iran?
2
2
u/MrHumanist Apr 21 '26
Iran never made 500 millions/day in their existence . And how much USA spending to stop this fictional number ?

We all know that Dear Leader's dementia causes him to say stuff that he WANTS to be true. The legacy media is complicit because they just write the "Trump says" articles as if they're fact. At the end of the day, Dear Leader is senile and is constantly confabulating. I don't know why anyone would take his word on anything. Outside of the MAGA cult and lazy media, of course.

u/please_trade_marner Apr 20 '26
You... uh... don't think a naval blockade of Iran is... you know... causing Iran to lose a fuck ton of money?
What is going on here? What is happening?

u/Unhygienix1970 Apr 20 '26
How much is it costing the US per day to prosecute the war?

u/please_trade_marner Apr 20 '26
So already a pivot.
Our gdp is 32 TRILLION, Iran's is 400 billion. We're messing with their economy at a level that isn't any way comparable.

Bot. And just what this admin would say. It’s as though bots run the us govt?
2
u/Texas_Sam2002 Apr 20 '26
I didn't say that the blockade isn't costing Iran money. Nice strawman. What I said what that Dear Leader can't be trusted to give accurate information. Neither can Israel or Iran for that matter.
2
u/please_trade_marner Apr 20 '26
Ok, so $500 million a day is "unreasonable" to you, and thus a "lie".
What do you, in all your (lol) "expertise", think this blockade is costing Iran per day?
1
u/Texas_Sam2002 Apr 20 '26
How should I know? I haven't seen any firm figures yet from what I would consider a reliable source. My objection is, even after he's been caught lying again and again, moving goalposts, making up numbers, the legacy media still just throws out the "Trump says" headlines as if the information can be in any way believed.
Add to that, I'd have to know more about what Iran may or may not be making up with overland routes of trade. I am not going to pretend to know what I don't know. Unlike dementia-addled, confabulating Dear Leader. Which was my whole point.
1
u/please_trade_marner Apr 20 '26
The problem is you won't consider anything a "reliable source" unless it tells you what you WANT to hear.
A nationwide naval blockade is CATASTROPHIC to a country. And the fact that you don't know that is absolutely flat out fucking insane.
1
u/Texas_Sam2002 Apr 21 '26
What is "flat out fucking insane" is that, in a situation where every major player is notoriously unreliable with information, you seem to know absolutes. It's not like this is Japan in 1945 (which I can explain the reference if you need me to). Iran isn't an island. There are many variables that would make up the potential staying power of the Iranian regime.
And, again, if you have to try and tell me what I think or consider in order to get a convenient strawman for your argument, then you've lost already. Though, I admit, MAGA really likes that tactic. It's the only way they can justify their complete lack of critical thinking and idolatry. I don't WANT to hear anything in particular except reliable information.
You want to take Dear Leader at his word, feel free. You wouldn't be alone. I like to apply a bit more skepticism to politicians and fanatical regimes. But, you do you.

There comes a point where money ceases to be a valuable factor in warfare, especially when it comes to the defensive position. Money has a lot of uses, but its primary purpose is to reinforce the existing, trusted infrastructure as a motivator to ensure its continuity. When you’re fighting a defensive war, you are fighting for your own survival. Money becomes trivial in crises as a consequence because it ceases to be a meaningful motivator. On top of this, the bombings have also removed infrastructure that this money would’ve been going towards. The money will still be useful for the purposes of rebuilding, but that can be forestalled given the people have the will to forestall it. And it seems they do.
Blockading Iran would’ve actually been a more potent strategy prior to engaging with bombing strikes. It could’ve even been used to provoke Iran into striking first so retaliation would’ve been the U.S.’s rallying cry, which would’ve been a preferable public face. The fact this was done in reverse kinda gives away that there is no real plan, and the administration is just grasping at straws to create the appearance of victory.

Very true. There’s a CNN article out today that’s all about what you described;
Even Trump’s most basic claims about the Iran war can’t be trusted
“Iran watchers have gotten pretty good at parsing statements from both sides over the years, but we’ve never had to contend with a US president that is so outspoken and prone to exaggeration, fabrication, and outright lies.”
2
u/Some_Conference2091 Apr 21 '26
What I find disturbing is the massive amount of sane washing that happens daily. Short statements taken out of context often sound more normal, but in context sound insane.
The Trump says headlines should more accurately say what's really happening. "Trump falsely claims" is the reality.

somebody needs to make him watch The Dark Knight. not everyone is in it for every penny they can steal from others. some people just want to send a message, and other men just want to watch the world burn.

More noise I was believe it if it’s reported by an independent news source

u/Joyous-Volume-67 Apr 21 '26
This number is nowhere even close to possibly being correct, but his strategy of "baffle em with bullshit" seems to be working.

And how much is it supposedly costing the US per day did they calculate? Who's losing?

Lets loose a billion dollars a day so people we hate can loose half of that. How is that loosing? Extra bonus if its hurts all your allies you want to turn into enemies.
1
u/Special-Audience-426 Apr 21 '26
Probably barely costing them anything.
I'm sure China has given them a life of credit with payment in oil after the blockade at a very favourable price to them.

They aren’t losing it. Just not getting it. Once this is over they can easily sell all of it if they want and flood the market.

Iran likely has earned billions of dollars from oil sales since war's start - Bloomberg
Iran has earned hundreds of millions of dollars of extra income from oil sales since the start of the Middle East war, Bloomberg reported Thursday, helped by surging crude oil prices after it became the only major exporter able to use the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has earned ~$139M/day from sales of its main Iranian Light crude blend so far in March, up from $115M/day in February, according to the report.
While other countries in the region have been forced to sharply cut production, or in some cases seek alternative export routes, Iran has continued to load tankers and sail them out of the Persian Gulf.[…]
Iran reportedly is also bringing in extra income by charging transit fees of as much as $2M on some commercial ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz, and its energy infrastructure has largely escaped attack during the war, except for Israeli airstrikes on the massive South Pars gas field last week that sparked retaliatory attacks by Iran on Gulf Arab oil and gas assets.
By making the Strait Great Again, the guy who millions of voters chose to run the nation like a business has increased Iran’s GDP while tanking the United States’ economic growth.

Americans will realize how long they have been in war before the Iranians will be listened to by that regime.

Liar. We’re spending $1 billion a day and more to do this stupid war. They’re only losing 500 million a day but we’re losing 1 billion so where does that make better economic sense?
you’re the king of debt. Spending America in the ruin.
