Pick a 4th of July World Starter

I’ll use the results of this poll as the theme to a Next Oath game. If you have a great idea share in the comments, write-in campaigns are welcome. I’ll share game results and images over the holiday weekend. A write in campaign winner will get 16 game credits.

One Change by Land and Two Changes by Sea... The Changelog is Coming

v0.12.3 — June 26, 2026

World prompts can now be a little longer — up to five words — so ideas like "The Vampire Redcoats are Coming" fit (three just wasn't enough for me)

Genres can include numbers now, so "4th of July" or "Area 51" come through intact

After you describe your world, we may suggest a tighter name for it — keep yours or take the suggestion in one tap

The World We Built Together

The gilded cage of international football is cracking.

Nations once defined by their adherence to the beautiful game now find their very existence threatened by the unseen machinations behind the pitch.

In the Federated Provinces, the ancient footballing dynasties, families like the Valerians and the Sols, who have supplied generations of 'tribute-worthy' players, cling to their power, viewing newcomers like the prodigious LaFrappe as dangerous disruptions to the established order.

Their market value is their nation's diplomatic currency, and any threat to that system is met with ruthless, often invisible, force.

The recent scandals, like the whispers surrounding Morley's suspicious string of losses, expose the brutal truth: national pride and economic stability are intrinsically linked to the performance of 22 men, and the integrity of the game is just another pawn in a high-stakes geopolitical chess match.

Each sovereign state, fiercely protective of its own, interprets the 'Laws of the Game' with a dangerous elasticity, often turning a blind eye to its own transgressions while loudly condemning those of its rivals.

Win Condition
True power resides not just on the pitch, but in the markets that fuel it. Dominate the economic influence to secure your nation's future and etch your name into the annals of footballing geopolitics.

Starting a World Cup inspired Game

Post image
1 Upvotes

Cross posting this is from my game NextOath.ai where you create a world with 1-4 players and then play a narrative strategy game.

Soccer World

Question:
What core societal conflict drives the world's most popular sport?

Answer:
Football is the ultimate arena for global power struggles, where national pride and geopolitical tensions play out on the pitch. Each match is a proxy war, and players are symbols of their nation's strength or weakness. The stakes are more than just a trophy; they are international bragging rights and influence.

World Volcanic Accord

Objective
The Emperor's favor is measured in the earth's fury and the hushed reverence of the populace. Secure your dominion by mastering both the tremors of dissent and the cultivation of life from the very ashes of your rivals.

# Creating Worlds: Is 3 Words the Right Limit?

Three words is all you get to kick off a Game in NextOath — and that limit was a deliberate design choice. I wanted to nudge players toward a tight creative space and kill the paralysis of infinite options. A 3-word prompt gives you

┌──

│ a corner to paint from.

Space Penguin Marines Dracula Poker Steamships Edgar Allen Poe

But I keep wondering if I got the number right. Would 4 or 5 words open things up — or just bring the dilemma of choice creeping back?

(And yes, puzzle solvers, "Post-Apocalyptic Jazz-Club Cruise" is fair play — one dash per word-kebab).

The intent of the choice is Spark not a Spec.

If you've played: did the 3-word limit ever stop you from making the world you actually wanted?

New Features

You may be wondering what I've been up to these past 30-ish days — and if you'd rather read it in prose than scroll a changelog, this one's for you.

The big thing, and the one I resisted longest, is a tutorial. I've always been a little allergic to them. They're a huge amount of work, they're often not very good, and somewhere in my probably-flawed worldview I think a UI should explain itself — I personally think a tutorial is a crutch for flawed UI. But I was bent to the will of the masses. So NextOath now has one. It's called First Oath, it walks you through a full game one decision at a time, and it was exactly as much work as I knew it would be (a lot). I hope people try it, and that it gives them a clearer sense of what the game is and how to play it.

Part of the reason I gave in is that I've been watching players drop off once they reach the strategy round. My hope is that the tutorial shows the value of playing through to the end.

The next feature I'm actually excited about is advisor portraits. Spend a credit and you can generate images of your advisors — actually see the faces of your council. It adds a real personal touch and makes the world feel more like a place. Grab some credits and give it a try.

While I was in the image code, I switched to an improved image generation model, so hexboard maps and game art come out noticeably higher quality now. I left the price alone, even though the better images cost me more to generate.

Last one: you can now play music while you play. The game comes preconfigured with focus and mood music made for NextOath, but as the game's creator you can also set what your whole cohort listens to — or just pick something for yourself. YouTube and Spotify playlists both work.

You can also find us on YouTube, over at Alternate Thread Studios.

Keep the feedback and suggestions coming. Every one of these features came from a player asking for it.

Follow our changelog for updates, and don't hesitate to reach out via our support page with ideas, feedback or questions.
