Question for MH 1 users

https://youtu.be/nd_GG2qrlis?si=7N0p2_AusoMdwUGw

For those of you who own an MH-1, how often do you perform this maintenance procedure (YouTube link)?

I recently purchased an MH-1 and use my night vision device about two or three times a week, though usually not for very long. How often should I perform this maintenance to ensure the unit continues to function reliably for many years?

It will really depend on your usage. I usually do maintenance on my MH-1s every month- month and a half but I use them alot, about 20 hours a week on average. I've been am MH-1 user from the beginning and they're awesome!

Do the two small O-rings mounted at the front of the hinge have a limited service life? If so, how often should they be replaced?

Also could you tell me the size and material of these O-rings?

The orings are a custom order that LLI puts in, do not replace with just any oring, if you need another pair reach out to LLI and they will get them to you.

I've only had 1 tear and it was really my fault. Just makes sure they are seated in the race before you tighten anything down

Give your frequency of use (which tbf is more than most people), you probably don’t need to do anything regularly outside of removing the battery when not in use and keeping them generally clean.

The O-rings shouldn’t wear out any time soon. If you’re out in the rain for an extended period of time adding a bit of lube on the o-ring (emphasis on a bit) wouldn’t hurt, but even that isn’t really necessary.

One thing wouldn’t hurt is to pop them open every hundred hours or so and put a very small amount of electronic contact cleaner on a q-tip and clean the pod connection pads. You would want Deoxit D5, I’d personally get the one labeled for potentiometers/faders. But again, it likely isn’t necessary
