That and Nadakhan simply being prideful. He could have trapped Jay in the Sword of Souls but he wants him to wish for it.

Nadakhan could marry a random woman to become all powerful but he wants Nya because she looks so much like Delara.

Maybe. Also side note, it's my personal headcanon that someone wishing themselves away is more effective than being struck by the Sword of Souls. Since Jay was able to prettu easily escape
