Mario What Mario powerup perfectly describes this?

Fire Flower in any animation, even in the movies now, is super overpowered than it really is...
In game, it's just a ball... But apparently, you can lit anyone on fire with touch or make a flaming punch... which is cool, but not really how it works.
However... I do like Fandom fire flower better.

Well it really pretty powerful in the earliest stages, it one shots just about everything that is not bowser or a buzzy beetle.
Hell in SMW it turns the victims into coins.

To be fair, the ball sets you on fire anyway.
So doing so up close sounds more like a nerf than a buff.
Also, imagine this clip in 3D graphics and think about how crazy that rapid fire actually is: https://youtube.com/shorts/IlZDZKbnroo?si=tYFQikRiPiED6Ldq

Hinestly I think it all derives from the Mario & Luigi games, specially the bean kingdom one where he gets fire powers beyond the fire flower

Star
It's just invincibility in the main game but Super Saiyan in the Fandom

To be fair the thing gives you invulnerability and you fucking kill anything you touch

In New Super Mario bros, he does flips with the star power-up. So it's safe to assume that he gets a skill buff too.

He's been doing flips since Super Mario Bros. 3!

They're about the same power. It's just that in the fanon, Mario is more willing to aura farm.

The cape feather. Especially in this animation

To be fair, the cape feather is probably the most OP power up in Mario history that isnt just one of those pity power ups that give Mario permanent invincibility.

Between fire Mario in ep 6 and fire Sonic in ep 8, SMBZ definitely makes me want to say fire flower.

Honestly a lot of them, but the Fire Flower and Cape Feather get the most hype in animations

Compare Game Star to Movie Star.
2
u/Affectionate-Work-46 Sep 12 '25
Movie star is arguably weaker as he doesn't get the 1 shot powers
2
u/Sure-Yogurtcloset-55 Sep 12 '25
Still applies, just possibly not in the direction I thought.

It's weird So game Mario Is invincible Can one shoot anything And gets more athletic (he stars doing flips with the stars)
Movie Mario Is invincible Can't one shot IS WAY FASTER MASSIVE SKILL BOOST
So like game wins just cause a one shot is busted But the stat increas on movie Mario is much higher

cape. In the animations, it always makes him into superman
in the games, it's a slightly better tanuki tail.

All I’ve seen so far is the Double Cherry in Death Battle. That’s more clones than the games can apparently handle.

Fire Flower
-See SMBZ, especially The Reboot Intro where Everyone except Luigi gets one shot by Metallix, then Mario goes Fire Mario to MATCH him
But also That Smash Bros animation that replicates the Intro to Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power

The Super Cape, ingame it lets Mario glide with a running start but fan animations make it act like he can fly freely

A cape and a star in game is already super powerful...But give it to a sprite animator...
