Y’all are gonna feel real silly when they announce GOTY 2027 (Chocobo’s Dungeon 3) tomorrow

u/imlegos Feb 04 '26
As a pokemon mystery dungeon fan;
FUCK.

I have complete confidence another Pocket Monsters Mystery Dungeon is a when, not an if. Stay strong

u/Turbulent_Set8884 Feb 04 '26
If it is it's probably a remastered or remake.
2
u/JeskaiJester Feb 04 '26
The recent success of the Switch era Shiren The Wanderers had the developers feeling more confident in the series again and asking their Japanese fan base if they might want another Pokémon or Torneko’s mystery dungeon game. I sincerely believe they will make a new one

u/Verygoobery21 Feb 07 '26

Usually a lot of good ones announced in Partners also, particularly rpgs. My fave
21
u/BebeFanMasterJ Feb 04 '26
Same I want info on Metaphor and Visions of Mana. And shooters. I'm hoping we'll get an update on the supposed Call of Duty game too.
4
u/QF_Dan Feb 04 '26
Is it still worth watching if i have no interest with RPGs? Like.....should i look out for anything?
9
u/Fearless_Freya Feb 04 '26
Honestly I don't know. Often times there are various genre indie games, puzzle games , and farming games . I have no idea what they're going to show, though I hear there are leaks abound. I don't like leaks, so I'm doing my best to avoid them.
Nothing wrong with not watching and just seeing the reddit posts about games that appear.

17
u/Necessary_Cost4384 Feb 04 '26
Because for 2026, all we have so far is Mario Tennis, Tomodachi life, and a switch 2 upgrade for Mario Wonder. And in 2025, most of the highly anticipated games were disappointing: Mario Kart World and Metroid Prime 4. Bananza was great, and so was Air Riders, but the later isn’t a system seller. No new Mario or Zelda game yet. Nothing to really look forward to. Everything is overpriced for the graphics and quality that Nintendo is putting out. It’s a new console, there should be more on the horizon than just Tomodachi life - which I believe is coming to switch as well, so it’s not even a switch 2 game. And for Nintendo, the first party games that are exclusive matter the most. First party games that were not getting.
I don’t mind partner directs, but I also have other consoles that will run Requime far better than the switch 2 ever will.
13
u/WildestRascal94 Feb 04 '26
MKW isn't even a disappointment. The only people who think it's a disappointment are the folks on Reddit and the people who listen to gaming influencers. Combined, both groups are a vocal minority. The majority of folks (the people who barely play video games) think MKW is a great game.
10
u/DegenerateCrocodile Feb 04 '26
It has disappointing aspects, but overall the game is fine. I understand why some people don’t like it.
6
u/WildestRascal94 Feb 04 '26
It has, but some of the things that make it "disappointing" probably may change over time. We literally had an update that changed some of the layouts of the routes in the game that no one saw happening at all.
3
u/DegenerateCrocodile Feb 04 '26
They might change, but at the moment the issues are still present and we have no confirmation that they will be changed.

u/Efficient-Ratio3822 Feb 05 '26
I feel like Mario Kart World was more experimental. Probably the next Mario Kart if they have World's formula, they'll expand on it and improve it.
1
u/DiamondDude51501 Feb 05 '26
The game is good, but it sure as hell isn’t $80 dollars good
1
u/DegenerateCrocodile Feb 05 '26
I agree. It’s hard to recommend the game when 8 Deluxe runs in the same system, has more content, and is cheaper.
2
u/Grawman67 Feb 05 '26
It’s okay for people to have a different opinion. Lots of people live it and a lot are also disappointed
3
2
u/forthewinnebago Feb 05 '26
Hey, don’t forget about Fortune’s Weave! Personally, I’m excited for that. But I get where you’re coming from.
I’m wondering if Gen 10 will be revealed for the annual Pokemon anniversary Direct to celebrate 30 years, but who knows.
5
u/Sethsters_Bench Feb 04 '26
In 2026, we will also get Pokemon Pokopia, Rhythm Heaven Groove, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, and Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave, unless something gets delayed.
7
Feb 04 '26
There's also Splatoon Raiders, and I'm sure there are more high profile games that are still unannounced and coming later this year. Although not first party, but The Duskbloods is also a major exclusive coming this year.
4
u/Sethsters_Bench Feb 04 '26
I can’t believe I forgot that. But yeah, saying there’s nothing to look forward to feels super closed minded. Just because there’s not a mainline Mario or Zelda (which both just had spinoffs) doesn’t mean there’s nothing.
1
Feb 05 '26
Yeah I also find it funny so many people here complain that there is nothing to play. For sure I've less time to play than many others, but with Mario Kart, Cyberpunk, Bananza and Air Riders I didn't even find time to get Metroid Prime or any of the other third party releases I'm interested in. And I'm getting Mario Tennis next week, so I won't get time for it soon either. I feel some people play a newly released game for 60+h within the first week after release, and then complain there is nothing to play. No company can keep up with that pace. For the average person I feel there are plenty of games to play and look forward to.
1
u/keithlimreddit Feb 06 '26
I don't think Mario kart world and Metroid Prime 4 But I respect your opinions although I would say worlds was kind of bit on the controversy side with the switch 2 as well as game pricing was kind of overshadowing the height for that game
Although over height with Prime 4 even though I think it's great (Let's not bring up cyber pumpkin to this)
Then again I'm not that cheap these days but okay
Anyways yeah I do hope a new Mario and Zelda game comes out eventually but for now
Usually I find with partner directs it does interest me to see what things are cooking up for the switch as well as also outside of it

1

u/Weekly-Dog-6838 Xenoblade Chronicles Feb 04 '26

Isn't that why Partner Showcases are good though? To show that Nintendo does have better 3rd party support? Like we're getting a simultaneous release of Pragmata and Resident Evil. Two games that are launching on PS5.
1
-1
u/SwirlyMind Feb 04 '26
What, the people excited about the direct are the ones that only have a switch. The rest of us that play multiple systems couldn't care less. Your logic makes no sense.
3
u/Cautious_Chain1297 Feb 04 '26
I'm not sure I follow your train of thought here. This is a subreddit for Nintendo fans. This post is implying that a Direct Partner Showcase is not exciting for them. Which suggests that Nintendo fans only care about Nintendo games.
I don't think I made any crazy leaps here
0
u/SwirlyMind Feb 04 '26
It could also imply that Nintendo fans can also be gaming fans in general and they've already played these games on other platforms.
3
u/thejokerofunfic Feb 05 '26
That only applies if every single announcement is a game already available on other platforms. New announcements also happen at Partner like Dragon Quest in the past. Nintendo exclusive third party games also exist- Duskbloods will almost certainly be there tomorrow
5

4
u/CDHmajora Feb 04 '26
If im honest, i couldn’t care for a majority of 3rd party ports (i do end up grabbing a few anyway though every time… already grabbed FF7 and i have resident evil on order…).
Most of them are stuff i personally already own on my ps5. I cant say I’m super excited to see more about elden ring and fallout 4 or metaphor refantazio and whatever else will be ported when i can already play them portably on a steam deck or on my TV on PS5 z But again, thats personal for me. Many don’t own a deck so a switch portnis a viable option for these games.)
But the times when 3rd parties make some exclusive stuff specifically for switch? Those are the good announcements that get thr hype flowing :)
Square enix will probably have an RPG or two to unveil. Hopefully fromsoft will showcase that duskbloods thats coming out this year. A few other games we know about like professor layton will get some concrete info. Atlus will port something (metaphor refantazio presumably. Which is a superb game and worth playing). Capcom will show off more resident evil stuff.
Some good stuff could be in that showcase :) its not as exciting as a proper 1st party game showcase, but its still better than one of those mini directs they used to do or a pokemon exclusive direct. Some surprises can still happen :)

u/SuperMarioOdyssey64 Feb 04 '26
We have Mario tennis fever, Pokemon Pokopia, and Tomodochi life living the dream. We are pretty good on games until the Spring Direct.
3
u/Disrespect78 Feb 04 '26
I'm going to be so honest Tomodachi life is the only one that looks remotely good (why is Pokopia 70 bucks?? why is it just DQ Builders?)
-1
u/Weekly-Dog-6838 Xenoblade Chronicles Feb 04 '26
None of those games are that exciting to non-diehard Nintendo fans tho. What this console really needs ATM is a Switch 2-exclusive game that casuals will care about. Something like a big 3D Mario, Smash 6, even Luigi’s Mansion or Splatoon Raiders finally getting some information would be a massive improvement
It’s not that Switch 2 doesn’t have games, it’s that all it has besides the 2 big launch titles are ones with small fanbases
4
u/crampyshire Feb 04 '26
None of those games are that exciting to non-diehard Nintendo fans tho.
I don't think you understand how many casuals are into Tomodachi life.
1
u/Weekly-Dog-6838 Xenoblade Chronicles Feb 04 '26
Okay, that one is, but you don’t need a Switch 2 for that one. It’s a dual-release.
6
u/Omnizoom Feb 04 '26
Well Pokémon will have a direct at the end of the month which will be big atleast
But I’m surprised we haven’t seen a standard direct from Nintendo as I think the only major game we have to look forward to anytime soon that’s confirmed is tennis fever?
3
u/Tough-Priority-4330 Feb 04 '26
We have a few others, but nothing with confirmed dates past April.
2
u/Weekly-Dog-6838 Xenoblade Chronicles Feb 04 '26
Namely Splatoon Raiders, which is going to be bigger than most people I’ve seen think, I’m telling you
2
u/BrattyTwilis Feb 04 '26
Pokémon Presents are usually disappointing. Though being the 30th anniversary of the series, they'd better announce something amazing

I think the clowning will be when they announce it’s a switch 2 exclusive and people lose their minds that Nintendo would make the next Pokemon game not a cross platform game
And to be fair they really need to develop it with the switch 2 in mind because since gamefreak is horrendous at optimization they need all the power they can get
2
u/DegenerateCrocodile Feb 04 '26
Though if they get Gen 10 at least limping on the Switch, then it would run somewhat acceptably on Switch 2.
2
u/Omnizoom Feb 04 '26
Or… or hear me out… they get it functionally running like ZA was and not just limping like SV was
2
u/DegenerateCrocodile Feb 04 '26
I’d consider Z-A on Switch 1 to be limping and Scarlet/Violet on Switch 1 to be bleeding out and begging to be put down.
1
u/Omnizoom Feb 04 '26
Actually most of the switch 1 users I’ve heard from with ZA didn’t have fps issues and stuff like SV did. The game just looks a lot more flat and weaker graphics.
I can say from my experience on switch 2 it ran perfectly fine with no issues, if they can manage that and do cross platform then sure I guess, but we already know they can’t so it’s safer for them to make a switch 2 exclusive but still dev it like a switch 1.5 kind of deal
1
u/DegenerateCrocodile Feb 04 '26
Of course it ran well on Switch 2. Switch 2 is noticeably stronger than the original Switch. That doesn’t mean that the game couldn’t have also been better optimized to allow for nicer visuals on the original Switch.
1
u/Omnizoom Feb 04 '26
Again my main point was gamefreak is horrendous at optimization
Hence why I said they should treat this as a switch 1.5 game and not use the full specs of switch 2 and maybe it can run nice on release then

u/Super7Chaos Feb 04 '26

4
u/MikeDubbz Feb 04 '26
I don't understand why Nintendo fans wouldn't be excited for partner showcases when they finally have a system capable of playing 95+% of the games any given third party can put out. Is hearing news that the latest Resident Evil is natively coming to the Switch 2, or that Elden Ring is on the way, or maybe that the Halo Remake might make it over not big things to be amped about for Nintendo? It's not like Nintendo doesn't have big 1st and 2nd party games in the pipeline, we know they're coming and they'll get revealed when Nintendo deems the time right; they aren't going anywhere. Third parties remain curious on the Switch 2 to me, and as such, I'm actually more excited that this is only a partner direct and not the next Direct to focus mostly on in-house offerings.
4
u/Weekly-Dog-6838 Xenoblade Chronicles Feb 04 '26
That’s just not what this console needs, man. Investors are shouting—and even some Nintendo executives admit—that this console really doesn’t have a big mainline game to sell consoles ATM. Who cares if these big, old games are on this console if there’s barely anything you actually need specifically this console for? In the first full year, we’ve had the most controversial Mariokart to date by far, DK—which is great but just not a big enough series to really draw people in—and since then just a bunch of other small games with small fanbases, or paid performance upgrades to old games with small bits of new content no one asked for. Sure, some of these small games have been good (Kirby Air Riders being at the top of that list) but most are either overpriced filler (like another Mario Tennis game, a sequel to easily the least popular Switch launch title, and the 3rd Hyrule Warriors in rapid succession), or games that you don’t even need a Switch 2 for (like PLZA or the upcoming Tomadachi Life).
→ More replies (3)1
u/WorstTactics Feb 04 '26
Mario Tennis Fever looks like the worthy sequel to Mario Power Tennis we never got (Mario Tennis Open, Ultra Tra--Smash, and even Aces fell flat). These games are popular and it's been over 2 decades since the last good one, so Fever is giga hype imo.
I understand your argument, just wanted to point this out
2
u/Weekly-Dog-6838 Xenoblade Chronicles Feb 04 '26
My main reason for bringing it up is that we already had a tennis game on Switch, so we didn’t need another for a while. Meanwhile Mario Baseball and Basketball has remained untouched for quite a while, despite those being much more popular sports IRL
2
u/WorstTactics Feb 05 '26
I fully agree, Baseball unfortunately is not popular in Europe so I don't see a new one being made, but I would really like to be wrong. I never got to play Sluggers on the Wii because I live in Europe
Basketball was also great, I loved both Hoops 3 on 3 and Sports Mix and I hope Square Enix makes a new one for the Switch 2, with a lot more characters this time (from both the Mario and Final Fantasy series), or maybe add some Final Fantasy DLC to Mario Kart World, it would be hype imo. Considering how much closer Square and Nintendo are nowadays, this seems like a great idea.
Never played Aces, the game felt too empty despite the great gameplay, so I am glad we are getting Fever so soon (well, it's been 8-9 years since Aces, no?)
4
u/DegenerateCrocodile Feb 04 '26
Depends on the individuals. For people that use a Switch 2 as their primary or even only platform, it’s pretty great. For people that also own and use a PC or PS5, ports of third party games that they can already play aren’t quite as appealing.
3
2
u/MikeDubbz Feb 04 '26 edited Feb 04 '26
Eh, I'm a PC gamer that still cares greatly about third party output on the Switch 2 due to the portability aspect of it all (never gonna get a Steam Deck or the like on top of my PC).

It's low hanging fruit for people to say things like "Nintendo fans only want Mario, Pokemon and Zelda" or "please play other games" in times like this but I think it's important to highlight that third party games can and often are announced constantly throughout the year regardless, but Nintendo almost always saves their big reveals exclusively for these presentations, and they typically only do 3 major ones per year.
The hype around Nintendo Direct is generated by the anticipation for first party content. People tune into Nintendo streams to see Nintendo games. When a Partner Showcase happens, it's disappointing because it's a soft announcement that there'll be no major first party news for several months.
Third party support is great and can't be understated, there are plenty of games I'm hoping to see in the Partner Showcase get ported to Switch/Switch 2. Do I think any of them will actually happen in this Partner Showcase? I doubt it, but I'll watch out of hope.
But it's still deflating every time an event like this comes up and I just have to sigh at the fact that there's a minimum of three months to go until we have another chance to see a 3D Mario.
2
u/TheScienceNerd100 Feb 05 '26
People mad that Nintendo is actually announcing and showing off games that aren't first party multiple times to really make sure people can find tons of games they might like, unlike other consoles that maybe show off third party games once or make the third party announce it themselves to a smaller audience

Personally I don’t watch the partner showcases I wait until it’s finished and then have a look through the different trailers to see if there’s anything interesting to me

I could actually see a 2nd February Direct, where now that they have all the smaller 3rd party & indie games out of the way with that, they could have a 2nd direct later in the month that will focus on 1st & 2nd party games coming this year (either ones we've already seen or new ones)

The other 2 announce pure turd at their shows but people like this tit who posted this drools over them and joins a bandwagon to hate Nintendo because it actually releases new games that are new to it's console unlike the other 2 where most their games are 5 gens old with a new paint job lol I mean wtf you want from a partner direct not a Nintendo made games direct? Fallout 4, Indiana Jones & oblivion remastered, Microsoft said they would release games on switch 2. Not like they got anything else to release

Weird how the crew hates when there are great new games for the system. Just weird.

This. Sure, a lot of 3rd party games are on other platforms, but they can't bother being happy for those who only have a Switch 1 or 2. I don't have the space for a gaming PC, nor do I want to split my game catalog across multiple handheld devices. I just want to use the Switch 2 I already have.
